Team Introduction

Governance and Experience team of e-commerce are responsible for ensuring the safety and trustworthy of the marketplace for not only our users, but also sellers and creators. We value our users' satisfaction by working on policies, rules and systems to ensure the quality. We are looking for an algorithm technical manager who is obsessed with customer experience and passionate about building systems to detect various risks that can sabotage platform trust.

This Internship Program runs for 12 weeks beginning in August/September 2023. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship cycles below:

1. August 14, 2023 to November 3, 2023

2. September 5, 2023 to November 24, 2023

We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date).

Technical Assessment

Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in TikTok's technical online assessment in HackerRank.

Responsibilities:

This internship provides students the opportunity to join one of our engineering teams where you will have the opportunity to:

• Work with a team to design and implement algorithms to detect and control risks/frauds in contents/products/sellers/creators.

• Collaborate with strategy team, product managers, policy team and ops team to help define products and drive initiatives from engineering viewpoints.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Fall 2023.

• Experience with software development in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Python, Go, Java.

• Strong sense of responsibility and good at communication and teamwork.

• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduating December 2023 onwards with intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship.

• Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications.

• Experience in anti-fraud/anti-spam/platform-integrity or related fields is a big plus

• High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities.

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (hourly)

The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $60- $60.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
