GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the supervision of a Journeyman Electrician and Journeyman Machine Repair Mechanic, will perform activities to successfully complete the Apprenticeship Program.
Will attend and successful complete the formal classroom training programs and learn to perform the representative variety of duties required for the Machine Repair Electrician position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Actively participates and contributes to machine and process design and improvements.
Actively supports all environmental and recycling efforts including the disposal of hazardous materials. May need to be HAZMAT certified.
Adheres to all corporate and department safety guidelines and procedures.
Attends safety training classes to keep current.
Aids in the design, assembly, and/or fabrication of all types of equipment and special machines.
Contributes to plant layout to facilitate the moves, relocation, and installation of plant machinery and manufacturing equipment.
Documents repair, set-ups, maintenance, PM and safety procedures to insure equipment reliability, quality control and improve overall operation of equipment.
Inspects, adjusts, programs, and repairs machinery/mechanisms and equipment according to work assigned and is responsible for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic work on equipment.
Insures the working area, tools and equipment are maintained in a clean, organized and safe manner.
Maintains a "C" average in all required classes.
Participates in the Machine Repair Electrician Apprentice program by performing machine repair activities and attending 750 - 850 hours of classroom instruction.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Performs in on the job training and participates in classroom activities that are subject to formal evaluation of grades and
performance conducted every six months to assess progress in program.
Performs installation of, makes alterations to, and rebuilds plant machinery and manufacturing equipment.
Performs progressively more complex machine maintenance, machine electrical maintenance and preventive maintenance during training as the amount of involvement of the journeyman overseeing activities decreases.
Recommends and is involved in systems and machine modifications with management and engineering.
Recommends spare parts for inventory to provide equipment reliability.
Works with Engineering, Production, and Quality to insure effective and timely machine changeovers and set-ups.
Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience / Licenses and Certifications /Skills and Abilities
One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a Herman Miller, Inc., Forklift, Aerial Platform, or other equipment Operator's License.
Proven proficiency in reading blue prints, equipment manuals, drawings and schematics.
Demonstrated technical aptitude for mechanical reasoning.
Posses a well motivated work style and excellent written and verbal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of employees to complete work assignments.
Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime to support customer requests.
Willingness to participate in continuing education work shops both internal and external as necessary.
May need to be HAZMAT certified depending on location/work assignment.
Must be able to perform all essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.

Additional Details
This position may have to rotate between 3 facilities (2 locations in Spring Lake MI and 1 Location in Muskegon MI.)
This position will have to cross train as an Electrician and a Mechanic
