THE POSITION
The Office of College Communications tells the story of Bryn Mawr College—clearly, consistently, and compellingly—to a variety of audiences. The mission of the communications office is to promote awareness and recognition of Bryn Mawr College and its community of student scholars, faculty, staff, and alumnae/i.
The Magazine Editor and Writer will advance the mission of the College by setting forth and executing a bold vision for the alumnae/i magazine and contribute to Bryn Mawr’s efforts to elevate Bryn Mawr’s reputation among key audiences through strong editorial content. Reporting to the News Editor, the Magazine Editor and Writer will engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to proactively research, plan, and develop high-quality content for multi-platform use across Bryn Mawr’s web, digital and print media.
May include evening and weekend commitments.
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of seven years communications/publications experience and demonstrated experience planning and executing complex communications efforts. Exceptional written, oral and visual communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex, academic subjects to non-academic audiences. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, to develop appropriate priorities, and meet strict deadlines. Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends. Excellent command of the English language, especially the rules of syntax, punctuation, and grammar. Significant experience working with colleagues and audiences that are diverse across many overlapping dimensions. Experience working with vendors.
