Maintenance Supervisor - Food Services

POSITION TITLE: Food Services Maintenance Supervisor
HOURS OF WORK: 8 Hour Daily/247 Calendar Days Yearly
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Food Service / Food Production Center
STATUS: Classified – Exempt, Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for supervising assigned employees and scheduling work assignments. This position is expected to provide supervision of maintenance and repair services for the district-wide sites serviced by Food Services.
This position is part of the Food Services Division and reports to Assistant Director of Operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicates with administrators, district staff and outside organizations for the purpose of coordinating activities, resolving issues, providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
  • Fabricates equipment parts for school kitchens and Food Services Production Center for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts.
  • Implements assigned activities and/or projects for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Purchases equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair.
  • Supervises maintenance department functions for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Supervises work and workplace safety standards for the purpose of ensuring compliance of regulatory requirements and efficient district preventive maintenance processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
  • Preferred two or more years of refrigeration experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Highly collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the performance of generally sedentary work— exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects. This position requires close visual acuity to perform functions such as but not limited to reading, computer work and data analysis. The position includes frequent walking, talking, hearing, grasping and repetitive motion, occasional reaching, feeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, balancing, and standing, and significant fine finger dexterity.
The job is performed in an indoor environment with a generally hazard environment that includes machinery.
