POSITION TITLE: Budget Manager
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Business & Finance/Education Center
STATUS: Classified - Exempt, Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for reporting and analyzing fiscal information in compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements. The position oversees the development of a budget that aligns with the District’s vision, educational goals and student learning expectations. This position will provide financial and budgetary guidance and recommendations to District personnel.
This position is part of the Business & Finance Department
and reports to the Director of Business & Financial Services.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design and implement effective fiscal policies and procedures for the purpose of providing direction and/or decision making
· Research discrepancies of financial information for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
· Coordinate budgets and financial forecasts for the purpose of providing financial guidance and recommendations to District administrative personnel and/or the Board of Education
· Monitor expenditures against budget and ensures accuracy of reported information
· Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of sources (e.g. district employees, vendors, auditors, etc.) for the purpose of facilitating communication and/or providing guidance
· Oversee the preparation of state budget and financial reporting
· Coordinate state and federal audits of District financials and enrollment
· Monitor the integrity of the general ledger chart of accounts and internal financial system security/access
· Analyze federal, state, and local grants to ensure compliance with granting agency requirements
· Direct, supervise, and evaluate the budget staff to ensure efficient and effective outcomes, including adherence to timelines
Education and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in business or related field is required
· Minimum of 3-5 years’ budget or accounting experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Experience working with school district budget and finance is preferred but not required
· Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills in order to collaborate effectively with all levels of District personnel
· Ability to analyze and develop creative solutions to complex issues
· Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
