Maintenance Technician

OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Technician will be primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of biomanufacturing buildings and equipment. This function will assist and perform routine work in the maintenance of systems that include heating, lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, plumbing, water purification, environmental controls, and electrical systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide preventative maintenance service support to all departments with a primary focus on manufacturing and facilities equipment
• Identify and fix, or report potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
• Perform assigned daily inspections and building rounds
• Assist with troubleshooting and basic repairs of buildings and installed systems, including manufacturing equipment, plumbing boilers, chillers, and HVAC equipment
• Perform routine maintenance on boilers including visual calibration inspection and reset as necessary
• Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment including visual checking of thermostat, resetting as necessary, changing HEPPA filter, etc.
• Perform manual labor tasks such as loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
• Use manuals, to read and interpret circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
• Assist with maintaining lighting systems throughout the facility, maintaining fixtures, and replacing bulbs and lamps

EDUCATION

Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• Valid CA Driver’s License upon appointment
• May be required to pass forklift certification depending on assignment
• 1 - 2 years prior related experience
• Must demonstrate the ability to understand and follow directions, guidelines, and working procedures in written and verbal form, or as directed by the Facilities Manager (FM) and/or lead Technician
• Ability to react appropriately to changing priorities and deadlines
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Entry-level proficiency with power tools and willingness to learn tools is a must
• General understanding of mechanical component systems and processes
• Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications and to make rough sketches
• Ability to work flexible hours determined by operational and building needs
• Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
• Must be able to walk, bend, carry, lift, push and pull 50 pounds
