About the role

As a member of The Roku Channel Content Acquisitions team, the Manager, Content Acquisition will be responsible for managing the US Content Acquisition team, and sourcing and executing innovative licensing deals across a range of content types and business models for the ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) and FAST components of The Roku Channel (TRC). The ideal candidate will have team management experience, experience in setting and executing on content licensing deal strategy, strong financial and data analysis skills, exceptional negotiation skills with a passion for analytics to drive value through deals, and pays extreme attention to detail.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $160,000 and $307,000 annually.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage the US Content Acquisition team: prioritize and manage the team’s deal load based on strategic priorities and content needs; guide the team on negotiations, content evaluation and strategic sourcing
  • US content acquisition strategy: Develop and execute on content licensing strategy and deal terms in market for the US territory aligned with TRC’s global and international content licensing and deal strategies; identify new content partnerships and market opportunities to drive TRC growth goals
  • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders on TRC strategic priorities and identifying and evaluating new partnership opportunities for TRC’s US portfolio of AVOD and FAST content needs
  • Account lead for key partners (e.g., Studios): Lead in all aspects of content acquisition, including deal sourcing, financial analysis and forecasting, term sheet drafting, long-form review, contract negotiation, closing and new partner onboarding
  • Partner with Content Strategy & Analysis and Content Analytics teams to evaluate the profitability of historical deals and forecast future profitability
  • Work closely with Director, Content Acquisition and senior-level personnel preparing strategy documents, company updates, and presentations about The Roku Channel as well as the overall media landscape

We’re excited if you have

  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred but not required
  • 7+ years of experience in content licensing, content sales and/or business development in the media and entertainment industry
  • Exceptional financial acumen, data analysis and quantitative skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and develop a high-performing team
  • Deep knowledge of the media and entertainment industry and digital video advertising landscape, including online VOD platforms and OTT live/linear channels
  • Extensive experience negotiating a variety of deal types and business terms with media, digital, and/or technology companies
  • Strong knowledge of existing deal standards and ad economics across top AVOD/FAST OTT linear services
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfort with a quickly changing, fast-paced environment
