Job Description
Tricon Residential’s single family build to rent platform consists of 25 communities totaling over 3,200 homes located throughout the Sunbelt. This key hire will play a critical role in the planning, development and construction of these communities while interfacing with our local development and homebuilder partners. Tricon’s build to rent strategy is planned to deliver over 1,000 annually.
  • Work closely with development and homebuilder partners to manage the planning, land development, and construction of our single-family build-to-rent communities. These functions include tracking project development and construction budgets and schedules; validating construction costs and capital disbursement requests; verifying homes are being designed and constructed consistent with Tricon guidelines and specifications; and working with developer and builder partners to deliver on time and on budget successful single-family rental communities.
  • Develop and maintain active relationships with development and homebuilder partners across active markets. Participate in onsite and offsite project meetings with partners to track and measure project performance against business plan. Recommend changes to development and construction strategies, product design and specifications, the leasing and marketing plans, and/or pricing as required in order to improve results.
  • Perform regular site visits to track site development and construction progress, frame walk reviews, product delivery walk-throughs, and quality assurance.
  • Review and track land development and home construction schedules and communicate home delivery schedules with Tricon’s asset management and sales and marketing groups in order to facilitate the successful opening and initial leasing of new single family rental communities.
  • Work with development and homebuilding partners to validate compliance with building codes and ensure homes are being constructed and delivered consistent with the approved plans and specifications and homes are being constructed in a first-class quality.
  • Review capital calls and construction loan draw packages and changes to project budgets, monitor ongoing capital expenditures against budget, review cost-to-complete forecasts, and make recommendations for changes, if necessary.
  • Develop cost-effective home enhancement options to boost resident value, curb appeal, rental rates, and resident satisfaction.
  • Meet with market experts and consultants to understand market dynamics and gain insight into local market conditions and/or local regulations that may impact individual investments;
  • Oversee due diligence efforts for new investments, including land use, entitlements, environmental, title, site and product plans, construction costs, delivery schedules, and related diligence matters.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a proven track record with relevant land development and homebuilding experience in the single-family for sale or build-to-rent industry. Key qualifications for the role include:
  • 5-10 years of direct industry experience demonstrating increasing responsibility at a successful company within the single-family for sale and/or build-to-rent sectors.
  • Proven direct project management experience in single-family residential planning, permitting, land development, and home construction.
  • Extensive experience managing schedules and budgets from land acquisition through the completion of vertical construction on single-family residential neighborhoods.
  • Investment and financial acumen with an understanding of the impact that investment assumptions and business decisions will have on the profitability, risk, and financial returns for a given investment.
  • A leader with demonstrated ability to collaborate across a wide range of internal colleagues/departments, and external development and homebuilding partners.
  • Ability to set priorities and work to tight deadlines. Ability to manage projects remotely and multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Capacity to travel extensively and regularly across the US, and to Canada, from time-to-time.
  • Direct experience and familiarity with US Sunbelt growth markets a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Salary Range
Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
$142,960.00 - $238,260.00
