Manager for Business Development

Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Manager for Business Development to lead a strong and diverse team supporting business and advance solution development within the Navy strategic deterrence domain. The candidate will use his/her expertise and understanding of the strategic deterrence domain, Navy SLBM community, mission operations, strategic weapon systems, and contractor industrial base, while working directly with customers to explore and define program plans, technical roadmaps, business strategies, and investment needed to bid and win opportunities in 2023 and beyond. The candidate will leverage our GDMS Strategic Mission Systems (SMS) core competencies in strategic weapon systems and electronics to develop customer and industry relationships, shape opportunities, build business cases, and capture plans in support of growth objectives for the Maritime and Strategic Systems (M&SS) Line of Business (LoB). The candidate will be responsible for providing direction and oversight to engineering advance development activities and execution of New Business and independent R&D funds. Relocation is available.


Skills and Knowledge – The candidate shall possess the following knowledge and skills:
  • Excellent understanding of strategic deterrence mission and its technical and integration challenges
  • Relevant experience managing a dynamic, and geographically dispersed team with continually evolving requirements
  • Expertise and understanding of strategic deterrence community mission operations, strategic systems, and contractor industrial base
  • Knowledge of DOD acquisition process and policy; understanding of DOE’s acquisition processes and policies is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage across multiple customer organizations in support of engineering, analytical and operational issues
  • Strong communications skills, oral and written, with senior personnel

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers’ changing business needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects, and practices aligned with the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial characteristics coupled with the ability to work within the constraints of a large defense-orientated organization.
  • Capable of developing and sharing a vision for the growth of the business, delegating responsibility while being accountable, and able to influence others by persuasion.
  • Ability to develop short-term and long-term strategic plans for identifying and growing new business.
  • Experience operating in a technically driven, system integration business.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership behaviors, effective communications skills, a sophisticated understanding of budget management and the ability to successfully manage, grow and evolve GDMS programs.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time.

Salary Note: This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. Combined Salary Range: USD $160,300.00 - USD $173,500.00 /Yr. Company Overview:
