The Manager of Corporate Communications will work to develop, execute and manage communications strategies for CME Group, with an emphasis on its global portfolio of commodities and options products.
This candidate will be a creative thinker and will help identify opportunities within CME Group’s options, energy, agricultural and metals markets to reach influential media and enhance overall coverage. The ideal candidate is someone with corporate communications or consumer brand experience who has strong media relations and writing skills and the ability to understand and distill complex subject matter quickly. This individual is a resourceful storyteller and is experienced in building and managing relationships and placing stories with top-tier media outlets.
Principal Accountabilities:
Coordinate with commodities and options business stakeholders to assist with the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of media relations, executive visibility, and thought leadership programs.
Research, prepare and maintain various communications materials including press releases, briefing documents, talking points and press lists.
Serve as a company spokesperson and support media engagement efforts by building productive relationships and dialogues with relevant media contacts. Experience with top-tier media is a must.
Identify storylines and trends in CME Group’s options market data, both broadly across all asset classes and within individual sectors.
Manage media monitoring, measurement, and analysis across commodities and options products.
Identify and stay abreast with key media trends, including relevant new channels, earned media opportunities, reporter moves, etc.
Collaborate with other marketing and communications teams and partners of the exchange including internal, events, broadcast and corporate and product marketing to implement comprehensive promotional strategies.
Work Product Samples:
Candidate must submit writing samples during the interview process demonstrating message development and briefing documents for both print and broadcast interviews. Please include Social/Digital Media examples as well.
Work Experience:
Experience in a corporate communications or consumer brand role; experience working in an agency or in financial services strongly desired.
Strong media relations skills with experience pitching top-tier reporters on a regular basis. Track record of securing positive press coverage and proven ability to implement new media concepts.
Exceptional writing and editing skills using different styles to best reflect stakeholder, audience, and message; ability to explain complex or technical concepts in an easily understandable format.
Strong project management skills with an ability to manage and execute multiple programs and tasks with accuracy and efficiency and to take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Highly collaborative with colleagues and experience working alongside marketing and other stakeholders to meet business objectives.
Experience with Meltwater (tracking PR analytics and creating dashboards, etc.) preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree: Communications/ Journalism/Marketing Required

Web and social media savvy; proven experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social applications for business purposes
