Summary of Position
The Central Analytics Department is seeking a dynamic individual as the Manager of Population Health Data and Analytics. The Manager will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels, to develop operational/clinical reporting to provide insights as to how the Population Health and Quality and Safety teams are performing. The role will develop and oversee reporting following NCQA HEDIS specifications and collaborate with operational teams to measure effectiveness of clinical programs and patient outcomes.
Under general direction, has responsibility for a key data management and analysis function. Oversees the specification, production and analysis of both ad hoc and standard sets of utilization, financial and/or clinical data to assess quality, service, and operational, organizational performance and/or provider performance. Manages reporting and analysis efforts for assigned areas. Provides guidance and leadership to data analysis efforts that impact areas such as HVMA and Atrius Health organizational investment, new business ventures and policy decisions. Has responsibility for the specification, production, and analysis of data for quality improvement studies, business forecasts for new programs, and/or physician variable compensation. Typically oversees a group of data analysts.
Essential Functions
- Provides senior-level data analysis direction and consultation in support of key HVMA and Atrius Health organizational goals.
- Oversees the assembly, analysis and synthesis of a variety of data types and reports accumulated within any of the organization's data systems. Has responsibility and oversight for the production of reports and presentations, including complex modeling, business forecasting and, if applicable, related budget development to ensure goals and objectives are met. Considers alternative scenarios and factors as needed. Highlights areas of concern and implements or recommends solutions.
- Ensures coordination with other groups within the organization in the capturing of data. Ensures the integrity of data received and that discrepancies are resolved.
- Oversees the analysis, organization and compilation of data into a variety of presentation formats to meet the needs of numerous ad hoc quality projects and/or on-going meetings and projects. Ensures that end users are satisfied with the final results.
- Takes lead role in managing and overseeing key departmental activities or projects as assigned. Oversees analysis and presentation of data for key business programs, ventures and initiatives.
- Participates in cross-organizational projects as assigned.
- Supervises small group of non-clinical exempt staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities within areas of responsibility in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Provides direction and support to staff to assure departmental effectiveness and efficiency. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, orienting and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; reviewing personnel actions of subordinates and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Develops, monitors, oversees and is accountable for department operating budget, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines. Develops and implements cost saving measures as appropriate. Maximizes use of organizational resources.
- May develop, implement, and/or maintain a data analysis and reporting strategy for the department, including tasks such as documentation, security, training and publication of standard reports.
- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Masters degree or related experience in a quantitative and analytical discipline required (or equivalent education, training or experience).
Skills and Experience: Skills and experience typically acquired through 7-10 years experience in financial or data analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting. At least 3 years experience in a managerial, supervisory or lead role preferred. Detail oriented with strong technical writing, communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated project management skills. Special skills include the ability to gather, analyze and communicate data. Requires high level of computer software skills including Microsoft Excel and Access. Knowledge of specific report writing tools (e.g., SQL). Epic clarity and dashboarding tools also desired.
