Manager, Prefabrication
The R&D Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of R&D projects at HITT. In this role, he/she will help execute leadership’s vision to drive innovation and excellence in the construction industry by identifying industry disrupting concepts, products, and ideas that aim to expand HITT’s business model. They will be responsible for developing new projects which support our R&D pillars and manage projects from concept through completion. They will manage complex multi-disciplinary projects working with internal teams as well as consultants, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers.
This individual must have deep knowledge of commercial design and construction processes and will report to the Head of Research & Development. Key to this position are strong project management skills, ability to identify opportunities on and off the jobsite for innovation, strong writing skills, relationship management, critical thinking, and deep construction knowledge. The ideal candidate is skilled in both internal and external customer service and is comfortable operating in new project territory without fear of failure.

Responsbilities
- Identify, research, validate, and develop opportunities for innovation within the built environment
- Drive the innovation process by implementing R&D projects including partnering with internal team members, external consultants, product manufacturers, designers, and/or trade partners.
- Lead the program framework process for the R&D projects including conducting market research, identifying strategic opportunities, developing thorough business cases, and recommendations for business model evolution
- Develop and manage project budgets, oversee accounting responsibilities, and regularly articulate expected return on investment
- Plan project scopes and goals with R&D leadership, outlining key metrics, return on investment, and partnership opportunities Develop relationships with internal team members, industry stakeholders, and potential clients to support pilot programs and market feedback.
- Consistently document all stages of an R&D project, gather data, identify lessons learned, and generate content for white papers and other thought leadership opportunities.
- Support all R&D projects as technical construction expert, driving projects from concept to implementation on a project site.
- Regularly iterate and test processes to achieve desired results
- R&D projects may be both short term and long term in nature and require strong leadership skills to push through the stages of development to launch/implementation.
- Develop cadence for regular reporting on project milestones, gather executive feedback, and implement into the project
- Working with Communications, compose white papers, blog posts, and case studies from projects that can be shared internally and externally.
- Make presentations for R&D projects and provide performance metrics to key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Co|Lab team to develop testing opportunities within the R&D facility
- Active member of the R&D team contributing leading the ideation for the future of construction
Qualifications
- Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university and a minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, architecture and/or construction administration.
- Strong and creative problem solver is required. The ideal candidate will be curious and able to think outside of the box while juggling simultaneous project management tasks.
- Passionate about innovation in the build environment and a technical expert
- Thrive on working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Familiar with development and manufacturing methodologies
- Strong interpersonal skills with comfort level in front of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven writing skills to capture project information and communicate to stakeholders.
