Your opportunity

At New Relic, we help customers understand, optimize, troubleshoot and improve their sophisticated software systems, including AI, machine learning, and large language models.

Our AI Observability team is looking for an experienced manager with a passion for people, and systems, who can lead and mentor engineers as well as collaborate with multiple teams! This position will report directly to a Director and is available to work from home or any New Relic office.

What you'll do
  • Lead and grow teams of software engineers that work on the observability and reliability of our data platform!
  • Ensure the success of software projects through the planning and execution phases within and across teams
  • Partner closely with product management, fellow engineering managers, and key decision-makers to set up team priorities and roadmap
  • Mentor and develop an engineering team by holding regular coaching and career pathing conversations
  • Provide growth opportunities for engineers by assigning projects tailored to skill level and interests
  • Develop and iterate on processes and practices that keep your team focused and executing efficiently
This role requires
  • 2+ years of experience leading high-performing operationally focused software engineering teams
  • Experience leading cloud-focused teams or back-end development teams
  • Consistent track record of delivering high-quality software in regular, iterative releases
  • Ability to collaborate within your own and across departments
  • Experience mentoring and coaching team members
Bonus points if you have
  • Familiarity with modern people management practices
  • Experience leading high-complexity projects with cross-team dependencies
  • Familiarity with observability
  • Familiarity with statistics

Estimated Base Pay Range: $ 167,000 - $ 209,000
The pay range above represents a reasonable estimate of the salary for the listed position. This role is eligible for a corporate bonus plan and a competitive equity package. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related factors such as an applicant’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
