Director of Digital Coaching & Education

Release is an innovative, rapidly growing wellness and technology company that supports prevention, treatment, and recovery for Substance Use Disorder and Mental Illness. As the Director of Digital Coaching & Education, your mission will be to lead MANUAL (and other related programs), a digital personal development and mental wellness platform that inspires young men to become the best versions of themselves. MANUAL currently serves 60,000+ young men across 50+ high schools, universities, fraternities, and organizations across the country.

In this role, you will experience the empowerment and excitement of working in a startup while being supported by a broader company with institutional resources. MANUAL was acquired by Release in August 2024. Prior to acquisition by Release, MANUAL raised capital from Expanse Venture Partners, 12-48, the Inner Foundation, and angel investors from companies like Maven Clinic, McKinsey & Company, Eleanor Health, and more, most of whom stay actively involved in the joint company today.

The Director of Digital Coaching & Education is a senior leadership role within the Release team. Other leadership at Release are trailblazers who are transforming the stigma and treatment around Substance Use Disorder and Mental Illness. They include CEO Zac Clark (founded Release Recovery in 2016), COO Matthew Stefanko (founder and former CEO of MANUAL; previously McKinsey, Planned Parenthood, and Shatterproof), Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael McCormick (formerly Caron Treatment Centers) and Chief Technology Officer Karl Morand (10+ years startup experience).

As the Director of Digital Coaching & Education, you will manage the entirety of the MANUAL team. You will be a good fit for this role if you are a senior leader excited about managing a division end-to-end, an executor ready to get in the weeds of large business development opportunities, and a team player who’s inspired by the mission and vision of Release and MANUAL. If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while advancing cutting-edge treatment, coaching and prevention programs, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development
    • Lead Sales and Business Development at MANUAL, including development of outreach and marketing strategy
    • Oversee and manage multiple Business Development Representatives at MANUAL
    • Experience with enterprise sales to senior leaders, especially in the nonprofit and higher education space, is a plus
  • Financial and Operational Management
    • Manage a team with 3 divisions (Sales, Product/Engineering, Partner Success)
    • Own MANUAL’s divisional P&L; experience with financial management is a plus
    • Manage large operational projects, including strategic priorities at Release Recovery
  • Leadership
    • Participate as a full member of the Release Senior Leadership Team
    • As required, interface with MANUAL and Release investors and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Professional Qualifications
    • An advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is preferred but not required
    • Business development skills, including the ability to identify and close 5- and 6-figure+ enterprise deals
    • Self-starter with an ability to run a division end-to-end
    • Management skills, including the ability to build and develop junior team members
  • Personal Qualities
    • Interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
    • Positive team player attitude and excitement to support others on the team
    • Excitement about MANUAL and Release’s mission and vision
