Manufacturing and Operations Director

We are looking for an outstanding individual to lead our successful Component Solutions (CSO) manufacturing organization, which consists of 150 dedicated professional and hourly employees. The CSO business unit specializes in back-end semiconductor manufacturing services including automated wafer test, package assembly and test, and 2.5D advanced packaging. Our high mix, medium volume operations run 24/7 and are located in Beaverton, Oregon.

In this onsite role, the Manufacturing Director will lead production operations across a dozen manufacturing cells in Class 10K and Class 1K clean room environments. They'll report to the CSO General Manager and become a key member of the business unit leadership team. In this 'leader of leaders' role, they'll have the opportunity to make a significant impact and enjoy the highest level of visibility and influence across the organization. With strong performance, this role has the potential to grow into larger opportunities at Tektronix and Fortive.

Responsibilities:
Champion continuous improvement (Fortive Business System (FBS), lean manufacturing) in every interaction to drive consistent advancements in manufacturing processes, quality, safety, delivery, and costs

Cultivate a team that demonstrates grit and resilience to meet commitments despite roadblocks, values inclusion and diversity in all forms, and demonstrates integrity and courage

Deploy robust functional Daily Management/Visual Management and Operational Review cadences at appropriate points of impact to ensure the Manufacturing Organization fulfills its charter and meets its customer and Business commitments

Build a strong and high impact organization by implementing a compelling talent strategy; accelerating the development of diverse and promotable employees; setting high expectations and holding teams accountable; providing consistent and direct feedback

Set and lead capital, fixed and variable budgets for Manufacturing, providing end-of-month variance reporting and analysis, absorption accounting analysis and forecasting, and corrective actions as required.

Benchmark industry “Best of the Best” to improve Manufacturing operations; provide reciprocal benchmarking and support to colleagues across Fortive.

Communicate a shared vision and strategy that clearly highlights the linkage and contribution of the manufacturing and operations team to the larger Organization strategy

Qualifications:
Deep expertise in Lean Manufacturing and FBS (or similar)

8+ years of manufacturing and/or operations management experience

Quality Systems experience and familiarity with ISO 9001 standards

Proven track record of delivering results within a matrixed organization

Successful application of data and fact-based structured problem solving.

Experience building highly-engaged teams

Excellent written and verbal communication with experience leading teams through organizational change

BS Degree required, preferably in a technical field, although others will be considered depending upon experience.

Desired:
Management experience in a Class 10,000/ISO 7 cleanroom or better

Varied experiences in manufacturing engineering, R&D (or similar), production operations, and various materials management roles a plus

Master’s degree in business or technical field a plus.

Experience handling >$10M operating budget

Excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.

Digital literacy (Microsoft Office products: Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

This position's primary/essential functions are subject to U.S. Government ITAR compliance requirements under current government contracts.
