Manufacturing Technician 1st Shift Battery

Position Overview

This position will provide comprehensive electro-mechanical technical support to Proterra’s Greer Battery site. You will be responsible for providing a full range of mechanical assembly solutions to client groups at the site and be in an environment where you can have a greater impact. This position will report to the Powered 1 Site Production Supervisor and collaborate with other Production members. The role will work the standard shift hours of 6:45am-3:15pm Monday through Friday with additional shifts as required by business need.


About the Role – You Will:

  • Assemble or produce component parts into completed units while maintaining a quality standard. Team member will need to perform adjustments, setups, and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Maintain acceptable performance standards for assembly: Safety, Quality, Production, and Housekeeping (5S requirements).
  • Follow all quality and process standards and guidelines; Inspect work to ensure compliance.
  • Inspect parts, deviations, or completed units by using visual inspection, gages, check fixtures, or other inspection equipment.
  • Identify abnormalities in the assembly process and help develop solutions.
  • Engage in continuous improvement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Physical Demands:
    • May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
    • Lifting up to 35 pounds and occasionally 60 pounds.
    • Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
    • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
    • Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
  • Environmental Demands:
    • Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
    • Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
    • Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.

Your Experience Includes

  • Educational background with at least a High School diploma or equivalent degree
  • 1 to 3 years’ of experience in high volume assembly manufacturing. Experience in electro-mechanical assembly preferred, but not necessary.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in running automated equipment preferred, but not necessary.

Location: Greer, SC
