Quality Technician 1st shift Greenville

Position Overview

Provide leadership, organization communication & technical support to quality technician team. Ensure that products are assembled and delivered in accordance with established Quality Standards and customers’ specifications.

Fully versed in Proterra Transit quality requirements. Facilitate the development of quality mindset within Production Inspectors & build associates.

About the Role – You will:

  • Educate and train quality technicians to internal quality standards, using approved requirement documents.
  • Lead the team on priority, communication & coordination.
  • Inspect vehicle and sub-assemblies as needed.
  • Conduct technical quality assurance inspections and use results to improve production processes and standards.
  • Coordinate with subsequent team leads and supervisors to ensure, work done earlier is not “undone” in later operations.
  • Collect, organize and present defect data from subsequent build teams.
  • Coordinate improvement actions with KPI data using team-based solutions.
  • Develop and maintain the “quality mindset”, by auditing & mentoring Production Inspectors.
  • Coordinate improvements with Manufacturing & Quality Engineers in area of responsibility
  • Develop work instruction improvements with Mfg Engineering team
  • A thorough understanding of technical components and processes involved in bus assembly.
  • Support development and maintenance of inspection plan for vehicle build areas using drawings, specifications and control plans.
  • Identify and verify/validate components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies per drawings and related documents.
  • Experienced in reading and interpreting engineering requirements from text and drawings.
  • Experienced in using a variety of tools, precision-measuring instruments, torque tools and multi-meters for example.

About You:

  • Strong work ethic must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet schedules.
  • The ability to interact and communicate effectively with technical personnel at all levels is required.
  • Solves problems by obtaining data, performing analysis to identify and evaluate possible alternatives.
  • Activities and decisions are varied in nature, frequently requiring independent action. Unusual cases are resolved with supervisor/manager.
  • Expected to cooperate with co-workers in maintaining continuous workflow.
  • Coordination, communication, team problem solving within department.

Your Experience Includes:

  • Minimum of 1- 3 years of experience in vehicle assembly environment.
  • Experience with Bus manufacturing prefered.
  • Solid computer skills demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and basic math skills.
  • Ability to read blue prints to be able to find critical dimensions.
  • Working knowledge of quality measuring instruments, terminology.

You might also have:

  • 2-year related technical degree preferred.
