Senior Manager, Global Acquisition Integration

Job Description:In recent years, the pace of acquisitions at Mars has been accelerating in support of growing the size of the business within the next decade. We have also seen a consistent pace of divestiture activity as Mars looks to evolve its portfolio. The pace of acquisition integration and the variety of approaches and tools needed is increasing. As a result, we have established a dedicated, expert team housed within Mars Global Services to lead acquisition integration and divestiture preparation initiatives across the Mars business segments. This role is a key member of that Integration Management Team.What are we looking for?• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant area (e.g. Business Management / Finance / IT)• Desired: Other Business Change professional certifications such as MoP, PROSCI, Agile or Certified at Practitioner level in either PMP, PRINCE2 or MSP• Essential: 10+ years of professional experience in integration, corporate development, private equity or related field with prior experience in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures• Essential: 5+ years of experience in project management roles, with experience in planning, managing and delivering complex projects at a cross-functional or enterprise-wide level• Essential: Demonstrable understanding of business processes and change management• Essential: Understanding of financial management processesScope• Quickly earns confidence and trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, across a variety of functional areas• Communicates effectively at all levels of the organization (Comfort Around Higher Management) with clarity and precision while appropriately tailoring messaging to each audience (both written and verbal)• Mobilizes and motivates others, while driving direction and approach, providing thought partnership to challenge and influence initiative outcomes• Thinks outside the box on designing new strategies and approaches, able to translate market leading integration approaches not already used into adoption• Successfully navigates complex matrix organizations (Organizational Agility)• Effectively works on cross-functional teams with minimal oversite, flexing interpersonal style to work effectively with a diversity of stakeholders• Addresses complex problems efficiently, anticipates issues, and evaluate possible solutions• Operates effectively with limited information and a high degree of ambiguity• Manages multiple competing priorities often with tight timing expectations• Plans, manages and executes with quality and precision. Unafraid to get into the details• Removes barriers to delivery, and works effectively under pressure• Drives the sharing of best practice to challenge and improve ways of working• Learns from experiences, and applies that learning to perform successfully in future projectsWhat will be your key responsibilities?• Provide overall coordination and expert guidance to the segment and each functional work stream (S&F, P&O, IT, Commercial, Legal, Supply, etc.) involved in the integration of an acquisition or divestiture• Engage with senior stakeholders (e.g., segment leadership, corporate functional leads, segment and corporate regional leadership, MGS) and external parties to ensure we have an aligned integration approach, identify issues and risks, suggest paths to resolution, and assist in resolving• Ensure the integration approach/principles are aligned, documented and shared with key stakeholders• Stand up the appropriate team and ensure proper governance and ways of working are established (team structure - including steering team, ways of working, meeting cadence, issue tracking & escalation, status reporting, change management, financial management, etc.)• Offer expert advice based on past integration / divestiture experiences and current market best practices including guidance on setting the strategic direction of the integration• Manage integration activities in accordance with the integration processes established by the Mars Integration Team ensuring activities are planned and executed efficiently and effectively throughout pre-close and post-close phases• Ensure standard integration and divestiture process, tools, and templates (including Functional Playbooks or workplans) are well documented, utilized and kept current by leveraging past experience, internal learnings and external best practices• Ensure the segment and the acquired business are set up to capture the benefits / synergies identified to support the acquisition• Serve as a single point of contact for MGS in coordinating activities across services lines on any specific integration or divestiture• Perform effective risk and issue management to minimize/mitigate risks and issues. Resolve directly where possible and otherwise escalate recommendations to the appropriate steering group(s) as required• Partner with appropriate finance resources to stand up the appropriate financial management processes to ensure acquisition or divestiture related financial needs are met (for example, Transitional Service Agreement invoicing)• Facilitate formal after action reviews and capture lessons learned to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement; contributing to the evolution of our integration management processes• Continue to evolve the service offering though learning and exploring industry best practices with our external partners (KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, McKinsey, BCG, etc.) contributing to the evolution of our integration management processes• Specifically design the future strategies and tools required to maintain and improve our integration offering, leveraging external networks to service the changing needs of segments and the differing deal structures we encounter.• Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the integration management service offering, organization design, ways of working while building awareness of the service and value it provides across Mars.What can you expect from Mars?• Work with over 140,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.• Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.• Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.• An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.#LI-KR2Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
