Summary:
Martin Marietta is seeking a Manager, Automation Engineering, to join the Enterprise Engineering Services Team as part of the Automation Group. The Automation Group is responsible for providing world-class plant automation for the enterprise through projects, operations support, and operational excellence initiatives.
This position will report to the Director of Automation Engineering and be based in the Raleigh, NC area.
Responsibilities:
- Being a good Wingman in supporting Martin Marietta’s safety culture and regulatory compliance by always adhering to and monitoring for compliance with the company’s safety policies and procedures.
- Overseeing employees who design and program the controls for new projects.
- Reviewing project estimates and budgets for accuracy.
- Overseeing the troubleshooting and support of existing automated systems including but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Operator Interface Terminals (OITs), historical data collection, and reporting.
- Candidate will be the escalation point for the Automation Group On-Call.
- Use various vendor software packages to assist the team with programing and troubleshooting.
- Use Aveva System Platform and Classic InTouch HMI software to develop standards and assist with troubleshooting automated plants.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional operations and corporate support teams on issues critical to project success and the business process.
Requirements:
- Have at least a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis on controls or power.
- 7+ years of hands-on controls engineer experience programming PLCs.
- 5+ years of experience developing with Aveva System Platform.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience, preferred.
- Experience with ladder logic, AutoCAD, basic networking, windows operating systems, 3 phase motor control equipment, 120VAC & 24VDC controls.
- Ability to travel to oversee the installation of controls, checkout, and commissioning of automation Installations at various company locations.
- Are innovative and knowledgeable in applying electrical/control improvements to plant processes.
- Ability to work extended hours as required.
- Have excellent communication and leadership skills, including ability to understand and assist over the phone for electrical and automation issues.
- Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to document technical procedures and processes is a must.
- Are a motivated, a team player, and be able to keep up with the latest technology.
