SUMMARY

The Material Handler will be responsible for performing all material handling functions associated with stocking, pulling and loading products. This position will also be required to operate a lift truck in order to move stock to and from warehouse as well as to load trucks for shipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Pick up and move moulding from pack lines.
  • Pick up and place moulding into staging areas or stock areas.
  • Pick up and move moulding from staging areas or stock areas and load onto trucks for shipment.
  • Put moulding into units and band for shipment.
  • Read ‘pick sheet’ and select cartons of moulding and move to staging area or onto a truck for shipment.
  • Read pick list to pull and load cartons on non-motorized cart and transport to tally line.
  • Use ‘loading sheet’ to select and load moulding onto trucks in correct sequence.
  • Perform required daily maintenance checklist on lift truck.
  • Unload and place into inventory all empty carton stock.
  • Count moulding cartons and verify amounts.
  • Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards.
  • Comply with established safety rules and use required safety equipment.
  • Comply with company policy and procedures.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with co-workers, leads, supervisors, and managers.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to the satisfaction of the supervisor and/or lead including minimum daily production requirements.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree desired.

  • Experience:

Six (6) to twelve (12) months of related experience in a shipping environment. Previous experience in operating a Lift Truck/Fork Lift strongly desired.

  • Skills:

Demonstrated computer aptitude, Ability to perform basic math functions utilizing all units of measure (whole numbers, fractions, decimals, etc.). Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.

  • Communication:

Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees within the organization.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hand to finger, handler or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk, hear stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision (must be able to see and distinguish colors), peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally required to handle flammable materials. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
