Electrical Design Engineer - Automation

What you'll do

• Design and implement test setups and plans for volume production testing and in-house continuous testing of custom electrical systems

  • Electrical - component selection, schematic, layout

  • Mechanical - fixture design, bed of nails for in-circuit testing

  • Software - board programming, test automation

• Lead electrical verification and characterization of custom PCBAs and modules - prototype bring-up and debugging, hardware bug tracking, functional verification and signal characterization

• Work with contract manufacturers on bringing up test procedures and maintaining a high quality standard for custom PCBAs and other electrical-mechanical subassemblies

• Investigate and troubleshoot integration issues and field and line failures. Develop solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce or eliminate failures

• Direct product certification - wireless emissions, safety, battery transportation

• Be an integral member of our small hardware team

What we look for

• BS degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent

• Previous ECAD experience with tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence, or equivalent

• Experience with component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, and common digital protocols including I2C, SPI, USB, MIPI

• Past experience testing complex embedded systems and developing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations

• Proficient in Python and embedded development using C/C++

• Supply chain management and PCBA contract manufacturing experience

• High level of maturity, ownership, and pride in your work

• Bonus: Experience with MCAD tools such as SolidWorks, 3D printing, and laser cutting, exposure to regulatory certification processes
