MDT Institute is welcoming students to begin their healthcare education journey with our new Medical Assisting hybrid program. MDT Institute is institutionally accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). We are currently seeking a Medical Assisting Program Chair to join our team of motivated and passionate educators. Summary:
The Program Chair has the authority, accountability, and responsibility for all aspects of the programs including by not limited to: organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development, evaluation, and general effectiveness of the program. The position required to be sufficiently free from service and other non-educational duties to fulfill the educational and administrative requirements of the program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Management and oversite of the program
- Recommending and maintaining of facilities and equipment periodically in relation to current concepts of medical assisting and recommends appropriate modifications;
- Maintaining communication with Campus Director, faculty, students, clinical agencies, and the advisory board;
- Direct the development, evaluation, and periodic revision of objectives, policies, and courses for the program based on learning science and current professional practices in medical assisting with input from faculty;
- Establish a plan for systematic evaluation and general effectiveness of the program, maintain a record-keeping system and provide periodic reports of the program;
- Evaluate the online delivery in accordance with the established policies;
- Ensuring regular meetings of the faculty to facilitate communication and faculty participation in curriculum development;
- Recommending faculty for appointment, promotion, retention, and termination;
- Implementing an orientation process for new faculty;
- Assist faculty members in developing teaching effectiveness;
- Establishing the faculty to student ratio in accordance with the established guidelines;
- Scheduling use of program facilities
- Strengthening the morale of staff and students;
- Ensuring a written policy related to the evaluation of faculty is implemented;
- Monitor faculty professional development, including enhancing educational competencies;
- Facilitate regular in-service trainings;
- Establish and maintain relationships with potential employers, externship sites, and the community which promote and benefit the programs and assist students in obtaining externship sites and employment upon graduation.
2. Teaching
- Teach courses as appropriate in accordance with faculty job description.
3. Professional development and annual training
- Participate in professional development. Professional development activities may include and are not limited to professional association seminars, industry conferences, profession-related meetings and workshops, and research and writing for profession-specific publications;
- Participate in training focused on program management functions and administrative responsibilities as it pertains to the educational product.

Education:
Graduation from:
- an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation(CHEA) in Medical Assisting
- an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) in Medical Assisting
- an institution located outside of the United States and its territories in Medical Assisting. The institution must have on file from an agency which attests to the qualitative and quantitative equivalency of the foreign education and the specific courses. The institution must use the credential evaluation services of an agency that has published standards for membership, affiliations to U.S.-based international higher education associations, and are frequently linked to and used by federal agencies, state agencies, educational institutions, and employers (e.g., NACES and AICE).
Experience:
A minimum of three years of full-time experience in a healthcare facility with a minimum of one year of direct patient care in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
Education or working knowledge of billing and coding for the healthcare industry Has experience in classroom teaching or have had instruction in educational theory and methodology, e.g., curriculumdevelopment, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation.
Certification
A current medical assistant registration or certification through a nationally recognized and accredited certifying agency CPR certified through American Heart Association Skills and Key Behaviors
