Mechanical Engineering Manager
Job Description
Responsible for managing a team of Mechanical Engineers in designing and developing highly desirable consumer products from initial concept all the way to production. Ensure that Belkin products are perceived as the highest quality in their category and continue to build brand awareness through effective Engineering and design implementation. Work closely with the Design Director, Industrial Designers, Product Managers, cross-functional engineering disciplines and Belkin’s vendors to ensure product development objectives, budgets, and schedules are met.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Manage, hire, motivate, mentor, and direct a team of Mechanical Engineers.
- Monitor the quality of engineering solutions generated by the team with a focus on continuously improving effectiveness and efficiency.
- Responsible for ensuring that Belkin’s product development process promotes innovation without sacrificing responsiveness or flexibility.
- Ensure proper communication is maintained at all levels and across all cross functions.
- Keep product development costs within budget, and development timelines within schedule.
- Prioritize and delegate tasks to the ME team as required.
- Assist the PM staff to determine product specifications and features.
- Generate and implement appropriate training plans to ensure continued professional development of the team.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
- Support Company’s Affirmative Action initiatives, providing equal opportunity to employees and candidates.
- Uphold Company’s affirmative action plan and make good faith efforts to achieve affirmative action goals and timetables.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BSME with a MSME/MSIE preferred
- Minimum of ten years related work experience in new product development including extensive interaction with Industrial Designers and manufacturing vendors.
- Experience hiring and effectively managing Mechanical engineering teams
- At least 6 years experience with 3D CAD. ProEngineer/Creo experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of and extensive working experience with a variety of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting and rapid prototyping
- Experience working with cross-functional teams managing multiple projects.

Range for this position:
$140,000 - $160,000
Factors such as geographic location, academic credentials, relevant experience, and specific knowledge, skills and abilities will influence the actual salary offered. In addition to a competitive market-based salary, compensation also includes a performance-based bonus, and in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
