Job Summary

The Media Services Technician is part of a team of technicians responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and operation of all university AV equipment in classrooms and event spaces on campus. This position provides audio and visual support for all online and on campus events. Essential duties will include:

  • Oversee production of university events to include audio, video, and lighting.
  • Provide timely on-call help to faculty, staff, and students in the proper use of audiovisual equipment and systems in technology-equipped rooms.
  • Provide day-to-day support for all university classrooms.
  • Provide support for the AV Systems Engineer including A/V installation, configuration, and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain audiovisual equipment/systems and supplies.
  • Provide post-production and editing support for events and classes.
  • Train and supervise media services student workers and graduate assistants.

Qualifications:

  • One-to-three years of hands-on experience using standard audiovisual equipment (sounds, video, and computers) required, three to five years preferred
  • Working knowledge of computer-based AV control systems
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Formal training with industry certification (ICIA CTS or equivalent) preferred and/or the ability to demonstrate equivalent practical experience
  • Ability to use standard word processing and spreadsheet software for reports, graphics, and statistics
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends
  • Ability to occasionally lift equipment of 50-75 lbs.
  • Basic knowledge of web design-related programming
