Responsibilities:
Responsible for greeting and checking patients out after their clinic appointments, scheduling return appointments, collecting co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance, and completion of authorization process and insurance benefits verification.
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner; determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations or appropriate staff

Check patients out after clinic appointments, collect co-pays and/or patient balances

Assist in answering multi-line telephone system properly and efficiently screen calls. Route calls to appropriate personnel using voice mail, overhead paging system, alpha pager, etc

Schedule patient return appointments for physician office visits/diagnostic testing on Cerner computer system following all office scheduling policies and procedures

Collect information regarding any referral/authorization needed for upcoming appointments

Distribute forms to schedulers for confirmation of appointments
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience: Prefer one (1) year work experience, preferably in a medical front office setting; Knowledge of medical terminology desirable; Microsoft Word and computer experience
Working Knowledge: Knowledge of medical front office procedures; Knowledge of Cerner computer scheduling system; Ability to utilize Windows-based software programs; Skill in greeting patients and answering a busy multi-line telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner; Skill in operating a computer, photocopy machine, and telephone system
