You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.A Day in the LifeProvide legal advice and transactional support within the Global Operations & Supply Chain (GOSC) Legal Organization to a broad range of Medtronic business clients that are seeking to acquire goods and services from suppliers. Coordinate the delivery of these transactional legal services with cross-functional and subject matter experts within Medtronic.This position reports to the Legal Director, Technology and Data Analytics, GOSC Legal.This position ideally will reside in Minneapolis, MN or another US Medtronic office location, but could POTENTIALLY be a remote US-based role.Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.• Analyze, draft, and negotiate broad range of agreements including complex product development, supply chain, distribution, and contract manufacturing agreements with third parties.• Advise and counsel business clients on a variety of business transactions and operational matters by providing clear, practical, and timely advice on matters such as risk mitigation, relevant laws, and emerging trends.• Support dispute resolution with third parties by utilizing negotiation skills, settlements, and legal expertise.• Support GOSC related legal aspects of acquisitions and divestitures.• Collaborate with key stakeholders on the recommended structure of agreements.• Partner with subject matter experts across a global matrixed organization, including coordination with Security, Regulatory, Quality, Federal Contracts and Trade Compliance.• Work collaboratively with other lawyers, paralegals and administrative staff to provide the legal support for the areas described above.• Collaborate with a team to update template agreements, draft playbooks, and provide training to support a consistent contracting standards and process• Participate in other projects as assigned or as neededMUST HAVES: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS• JD from a nationally recognized law school.• Licensed to practice in at least one US state or the District of Columbia.• 8+ years of experience drafting and negotiating contracts as a practicing attorney with demonstrated ability and experience with complex commercial transactions​NICE TO HAVE• Experience negotiating sourcing-supply contracts• Experience working with information technology supplier agreements• Experience in licensing• Strong academic credentials• Experience at a law firm and/or in-house• Analytical risk identification, evaluation, and management skills• Ability to accelerate change• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work on multiple projects, in diverse substantive areas, at the same time• Experience working within a highly matrixed organization• Superior common sense and exceptional judgment• Integrity and strong ethical center• Exceptional advocacy in negotiating• Ability to establish credibility and develop strong working relationships with business partners and clients• Capable of and experienced in effectively working in groups and with senior management• An understanding of business objectives, strategies and relevant tactics• Seasoned professional with sound judgment• Exceptional oral and written communications skills• Excellent decision-making skills• Flexibility, adaptability, responsiveness, and collegiality• Ability to perform in fast-paced environment with competing prioritiesPhysical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
