At Meeting Street Streets, we believe in a holistic approach to student development and work to provide the experience and resources that facilitate student success in the classroom and beyond.  To provide this, we make a twenty-year commitment to students and families, from early childhood education to college access support and scholarships.

The Role

This position involves working with students identified as Gifted and Talented and those in the talent pool to provide enrichment activities that stimulate their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate should possess a passion for nurturing gifted learners and creating a stimulating educational environment tailored to their unique needs.


Responsibilities
  • Identify, assess, and select students for the gifted and talented program in accordance with public charter district guidelines
  • Create and deliver differentiated enrichment activities from to gifted and talented pool students
  • Communicate and collaborate with teachers and administrators about the progress of gifted and talented pool students and how to support them in their regular classroom
  • Organize and facilitate other enrichment activities and projects that stimulate creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary connections as needed
  • Foster a love of learning and intellectual curiosity among gifted and talented students through hands-on experiences and real-world applications
  • Counsel and advise gifted and talented students on academic and personal development
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in gifted education
  • Collaborate with parents and guardians to support student success


Skills and Characteristics
  • Expertise in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of gifted learners
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and knowledge of gifted and talented assessment systems
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the evolving needs of students
  • Passion for creating a challenging and stimulating learning environment for gifted and talented students
  • Knowledge of the latest educational technologies and their integration into the curriculum
  • Good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and a willingness to work closely with families
  • Ability to form positive relationships with children from grades PreK through 5th 


Educational Background and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
  • Active South Carolina teaching license and gifted and talented endorsement/certification required
  • A minimum of two (2) years of successful experience working with students from under-served communities, preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a teacher; elementary grades preferred


The salary for this position begins at $49,000 and is competitive and commensurate with experience.
