Position at New York City TransitTitle: Dedicated Announcer Supervisor (ATD/ TD)Opens: 10/7/2024Closes: 12/31/2024Authority: TADepartment: SubwaysDivision/Unit: Service Delivery - Customer CommunicationsReports to: Director - Customer CommunicationsLocation: Rail Control Center, Manhattan (Midtown)Hours of Work: Various ToursDedicated Announcer Supervisors must possess an intimate knowledge of the complex infrastructure of our subway system, and its route configurations. Dedicated Announcer Supervisors not only provide status updates regarding delays and rerouted for planned and unplanned service disruptions, and they also utilize their knowledge of the system to provide recommended alternative routes.ResponsibilitiesIn addition to making such knowledgeable and service-oriented announcements inresponse to a substantial number of incidents daily (note: the average number ofincidents per day is 250, as measured by the number of Incident Reports generated),Dedicated Announcer Supervisors are also expected to perform the following tasks inBetween Announcements• Continuously monitor train movement along the board to detect announcement-worthy conditions, such as inconsistent headways, and, in turn, provide a checks-and-balancesaccountability measure for Console Train Dispatchers.• Administratively supervise (i.e., timekeeping, rollcall)and crew Dedicated Field Announcers to the most critical field locations/towers,as well as undertake ad-hoc field visits to audit Dedicated Field Announcers'ongoing quality of work.• When service disruptions affect stations under the jurisdiction ofa Dedicated Field Announcer, provide direct oversight of DFAby reviewing announcement scripts for accuracy of information.• Prepare "Announcement Scripts" for upcoming planned servicedisruptions (e.g., General Orders) in coordination with the General Orders (GO) team.• Pre-record and broadcast announcements on general securityprotocols and acceptable rider behavior within the subwayenvironment.CompensationSalaries will remain the same.Education and ExperienceELIGIBILITY: All Assistant Train Dispatchers and Train Dispatchers in the title for one year, are eligible to apply.Desired SkillsKnowledge of New York City Transit rules and regulationsKnowledge of New York City subway serviceExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsExperience with PC hardware/software (Windows 95/98/XP/Vista, MS Office)Selection MethodBased On Evaluation Of Education, Skills, Experience, And Interview.All appointments, with the exception of Department of Subways' employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.Other InformationPursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").Equal Employment OpportunityMTA and its subsidiary and affiliated agencies are Equal Opportunity Employers, including with respect to veteran status and individuals with disabilities.The MTA encourages qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, including military service members, to apply.
