The foundational models require large compute-capacity, and as a Member of Technical Staff - Technical Program Manager you would be responsible to manage the health and capacity of compute clusters, communicate priorities to partner teams and collaborators, and the timelines of mission critical software and hardware deliverables. Sophisticated tools and techniques are needed to maintain the reliability, runtime performance, and health of the hundreds of nodes in a supercomputer consisting of thousands of Graphics Processing Unit (GPUs). You will be working closely with model scientists, software and services development teams to set requirements, manage expectations and develop best practices to achieve the smooth operation of the AI jobs. As a contributing member of the core group of pretraining researchers and engineers, you would also influence the roadmap of relevant software and hardware components. Your work will directly impact the business goals of a wide range of users and facilitate the next wave of growth and innovation in AI.Our newly formed organization, Microsoft AI, is dedicated to advancing Copilot and other consumer AI products and research. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.Responsibilities• Understand the technical foundations of software and services the team will use, communicate requirements and manage expectations across teams.• Manage the timelines and schedules of mission critical cluster hardware, software and services.• Manage the issues and drive teams towards detection and mitigation of issues impacting training workloads.• Running large scale projects with partners and internal Microsoft product teams.• Understanding customer needs, prioritizing user scenarios, and taking new features to market.• Working with a cross-disciplined crew across design, research, engineering, and data analysis to deliver a high-quality product and evaluate success towards business goals.• Enjoy working in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.• Embody our Cultureand Values.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:• Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development• OR equivalent experience.• 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.• Experience managing large-scale technical projects or programs.• Hands-on experience in software development, systems architecture, or other technical roles. Familiarity with coding, development processes, and technical problem-solving.Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development• OR equivalent experience.• 4+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.• 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).• 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects• 3+ years of experience in the technology industry and an understanding of technical concepts and the ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams• Verbal and written communication skills for articulating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders• Expertise in specific domains in cloud computing or AITechnical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
