We are seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as a subject matter expert for MS2 software in the transportation planning and traffic engineering domain. This role will actively work with our software to ensure following industry standards, transportation principles, and FHWA compliance. .
Responsibilities:
General
- Maintain understanding of the industry trends in transportation data management and FHWA HPMS annual reporting.
- Research existing transportation data management features within MS2 software.
- Provide guidance and recommendations for the software based on transportation data management requirements.
- Some travel required.
Technical Research – 80%
- Recommend improvements and provide technical support to clients as required.
- Research transportation data items and translate to developers for software implementation.
- Perform independent hands-on data analysis of travel data and highway performance measures using the software.
- Contribute to help guide content and methodology documentation.
- Utilize our software to help clients perform annual statistic calculations.
Business Analyst – 20%
- Conduct methodology research to help guide new software features or solutions.
- Work with clients to identify business needs and system requirements.
- Develop solution concepts based on an understanding of the client needs.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Prior experience in a similar technical support or consulting role (minimum 5 years preferred).
- Strong understanding of transportation data analysis and required FHWA reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a proven ability to work with people of all technical abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS) technologies.
- Working knowledge of DOT traffic data reporting.
- Statistics.
- SQL experience a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in science, transportation engineering, or related field, or equivalent transportation data experience.
- Experience within the transportation data management and FHWA reporting with a minimum of five years in the industry required.
- Active membership in pertinent professional organization(s) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times (carrying laptop, setting up workstations at user trainings and conferences, etc).
- Must be able to travel to remote sites for training, valid driver’s license required.

$80,000 - $130,000 a year

Hybrid work
While a fully-remote position may be considered for the right candidate, most staff are expected to work from our office in Ann Arbor at least once a week. Relocation assistance is available to successful candidates who are interested in moving to the Ann Arbor area.
