Modern Youth Apprenticeship: Communications Business Operations Associate

The Position

Business Operations Associates develop and complete projects varying in size and complexity. Apprentices execute business processes that support essential functions of the organization, ensure client deliverables are met, achieve organizational standards, and solve operational issues. Business Operations Associates gain exposure to a variety of management, sales, implementation, and marketing issues within an organization, making it a valuable cross-functional job role.

Within a role with corporate communications, the apprentice will collaborate with the different areas within the department, including external communications, internal communications, social and digital as well as business unit communications and community engagement. In this role they will learn the value of building a positive internal and external image and reputation for Roche Diagnostics through development and execution of external and internal facing platforms. The apprentice will also collaborate on communication projects as they correlate directly with some of the business unit areas.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with the determination of project requirements

  • Track and report the progress and quality of project work

  • Use project scheduling tools to monitor project plans, work hours, budgets, and expenses

  • Communicate relevant information to leadership and team members

  • Write internal communications for internal facing platforms

  • Collaborate with the social digital team on social media and digital content

  • Work on external facing communications initiatives

  • Participate on projects related to community engagement

Who You Are

  • Indianapolis-based high school sophomore with a 2.8 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale.

  • Active/Current participation, engagement and/or enrollment in related apprenticeship-based program through your school system that focuses on job shadowing, experiential and work-based learning opportunities in high demand occupations with an emphasis on academic achievement, career readiness and professional development

  • Ability to commit to a two- to three-year program while maintaining scholastic aptitude in high school and postsecondary classroom-based instruction

  • Proficient in the application of goal setting, study skills, time management.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships that foster a positive team environment.

  • You are responsible and possess discipline and determination. You are focused; a planner who likes to achieve and improve.
