State Lead, Stop the Cabinet Appointments

Location: Maine, Alaska priority; Iowa, North Carolina, Utah additionally
Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 (Consultants welcome; fee negotiable for strong candidates)

Description

We’re looking for State Leads to spearhead the Stop Cabinet Appointments program in Maine, Alaska, Iowa, North Carolina, and Utah. If Trump wins, stopping his cabinet appointments will be a key priority to ensure the worst of Trump’s tendencies cannot advance. State Leads will focus on stopping Trump cabinet appointments from being approved. The ideal candidates are well-networked and have a deep understanding of their state's political landscape. Your primary focus will be to develop state-based strategies, organize mass outreach efforts, and leverage existing networks in the state to influence key stakeholders to influence key decision makers. After the Cabinet fights, the roles might extend based on performance to new programs. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Unique Advocacy Strategy: Build a plan to get a single key stakeholder to take stands to prevent autocracy. 
  • Relationship Building and Power Mapping: Identify and analyze key political players, organizations, and influencers in your state to effectively mobilize support against cabinet appointments.
  • Mass Outreach Advice: Guide our efforts mobilizing constituents through various channels, including social media, community events, and grassroots campaigns to ensure they are effective.
  • Organized Outreach and Lobbying: Build and maintain relationships with local leaders, advocacy groups, and community organizations to influence key decision makers in the state.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with VP, Stop Cabinet Appointments to align state-level strategies with overall organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of the political landscape in your state, including key players and organizations.
  • Proven experience in grassroots organizing, political campaigns, or advocacy work.
  • Direct experience working with a member of the U.S. Senate from your state or significant involvement in progressive political movements in the state.
  • Strong networking skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Previous roles in political strategy or campaign management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for progressive causes and commitment to social justice.
  • Experience in coalition building and community organizing.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for outreach and engagement.
