Location: Remote (within the U.S.)
Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 plus benefits

About Movement Labs

We’re looking for a VP, Stop Cabinet Appointments to spearhead the Stop Cabinet Appointments program in the event that we are faced with four more years of a Trump presidency. Movement Labs is dedicated to stopping the far right and saving democracy. We bring new thinking to the most challenging problems in the political ecosystem and rigorously test our ideas. We’re bringing in a senior leadership team to lead our work to stop Trumpism and defeat fascism. After the Cabinet fights, the role would extend based on performance to new programs. 

Description

If Trump wins, stopping his cabinet appointments will be a key priority to ensure the worst of Trump’s tendencies cannot advance. Movement Labs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Leader to spearhead our contingency initiative focused on stopping Trump cabinet appointments that threaten progressive values. This position will concentrate on asserting power against his most extreme appointments in critical Senate target states, especially Maine and Alaska, but also Iowa, North Carolina, and Utah. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with proven ability to build and execute progressive Congressional advocacy campaigns, particularly focused on the Senate. They are well networked within the capitol building, and know how to leverage grasstops and grassroots power to win campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Senate Guidance: Bring expertise to the program. 
  • Pace Setting and Creative Program Execution: In coordination with with state based leaders, ensure plans are executed and resourced by Movement Labs
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to halt harmful cabinet appointments, prioritizing key states.
  • Power Mapping: Utilize power mapping techniques to identify and engage key stakeholders, legislators, and grassroots organizations to build a coalition against specific appointments.
  • Outreach and Mobilization: Design and execute mass outreach campaigns supported by Movement Labs, utilizing organized and other outreach methods to galvanize public opinion and pressure decision-makers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external partners to align efforts and maximize impact.
  • Advocacy: Lead advocacy efforts at the federal level, ensuring our messaging resonates with both policymakers and constituents.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track progress, measure success, and provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding campaign developments and outcomes.
  • Resource Management: Oversee budget and resource allocation for initiatives related to stopping cabinet appointments.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Congressional advocacy campaigns, with significant experience working in or with the Senate.
  • Deep understanding of the legislative process, especially as it relates to cabinet appointments and federal policy.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into accessible messaging.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing teams and driving collaborative efforts.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for outreach and engagement.
  • Previous roles in political strategy or campaign management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for progressive causes and commitment to social justice.
