Job Title: Multi Line Claims Adjuster I

General Description:

Under moderate supervision, provides and delivers claims adjusting services and solutions for internal and external customers in multiple lines of business.

Supervision Received: Claim Operations Manager

Supervision Exercised: None

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

  • Receive and oversees incident and/or claim assignment, confirm policy coverage(s) and disseminate acknowledgment of claim.
  • Investigate and communicate coverage, liability, compensability and damage with all parties involved in an incident and/or claim.
  • Investigate incident and claim by interviewing claimant, witnesses, establish claim reserve, gather and oversee evidence, obtain and interpret official reports, medical reports and incident and claim forms.
  • Initiate and/or oversee small to moderate loss first- and third-party claims.
  • Subrogate claims.
  • Provide prompt, friendly, courteous, and accurate service including information about the claim handling process, claim number, name of adjuster, and general questions about existing claims.
  • Contact customers, insureds, claimants, attorneys and others to obtain or clarify information.
  • Negotiate and settle claims, set reserves, with management approval, by obtaining demands and making offers to claimants.
  • Manage assigned incident caseload by reviewing security and incident report(s).
  • Investigate, review, download, and if needed, request additional surveillance video of incidents and claims.
  • Collaborate proactively with management to inform, analyze, educate and mitigate potential future incidents related to actual incidents or claims.
  • Maintain expected caseloads in multiple lines of commercial business while meeting established service delivery, production and quality objectives.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education in multiple lines of commercial business.
  • Responsible for confirming the motor vehicle’s actual cash value by evaluating the vehicle’s condition, options and mileage and obtaining necessary documents to settle the claim, and unless retained by the Nation, transfer ownership to the carrier so it can be sold as salvage.
  • Generate, receive and maintain highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • It is the responsibility of each employee to attend any training required for his position or profession as determined by his line of support or the executive leadership of the Chickasaw Nation. Also, it is the responsibility of those who supervise, manage or otherwise lead employees (or teams) to ensure that each employee receives all required training.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Preferred - Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information, determine a course of action and implement the selected course of action.

Preferred - Strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.

Preferred - Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to assess and negotiate liability and damages.

Preferred - Proficient use of MS Office applications and PDF documents.

Preferred - Decisive and organized with strong organization skills.

Preferred - Effective interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with external sources and all levels of employees.

Preferred - Self-starter capable of working alone or with others.

Preferred - Adapts to occasional high-pressure situations.

Preferred - Ability to multi-task in a fast paced and time sensitive environment and handle job responsibilities with a sense of urgency.

Preferred - Applies knowledge of policies, procedures, laws, statutes, and insurance regulations when ascertaining the incident.

Preferred - Uses various electronic resources for claim handling.

Education:

GED Preferred - High School diploma or equivalent.

Bachelors Preferred - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred.

Education Note:

Training And Experience:

Preferred Training (3 -5 years) - Three (3) years’ combined experience (education and/or direct experience) required and familiarity with: o Claims (insurance customer service representative, adjuster or producer) or; o Legal experience (legal assistant/secretary or similar experience).

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Required - Current property & casualty adjuster license, or be able to obtain within 6 months of start date required.

Required - Be able to pass a background check and receive a gaming license from the Chickasaw Nation Office of the Gaming Commission as required to work in gaming operations.

Required - Possess a valid driver’s license and meet requirements to drive a Tribal vehicle.

Required - Complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.

Physical Requirements:

Preferred - Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Preferred - Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
