What You’ll Do

As a senior engineer specialized in machine learning, you’ll play a key role in redefining clinicians’ workflows, unlocking better care for patients, and ensuring Nabla remains at the forefront of AI innovation. You will take ownership of high-impact projects and contribute to the growth and maturity of our ML team and R&D processes.

Within a team of experts who have built large-scale production systems at Facebook, Google, and Microsoft, you will:

  • Lead ambitious ML projects, collaborating with multiple engineers to deliver impactful solutions.

  • Go beyond ambient scribing to fully redefine clinicians’ workflows with AI, unlocking transformative efficiencies and improved patient care.

  • Propose and guide experiments, model architectures, and data-labeling strategies to improve our speech-to-text, note generation, and normalization systems.

  • Implement, train, and deploy models in production, ensuring scalability and robustness in a live healthcare setting.

  • Optimize R&D processes, enabling the team to ship new models quickly and confidently as we scale.

  • Stay at the cutting edge of AI research, sharing expertise and fostering technical growth within the team.

To get a sense of the impact you’ll have:

  • Nabla processes 10 billion tokens/month with LLMs.

  • By the time you’ve read this posting, Nabla will have transcribed 100 new hours of live audio and generated 500 new clinical notes, saving 125 hours of doctor time.

Our Stack

  • Python for everything ML-related

  • Pytorch and Transformers for training

  • vLLM for inference

  • Google Cloud & Kubernetes for deployment

  • Calls to OpenAI GPT-4 when needed

Where You’ll Be Based

Our offices are based in Paris 3e (Arts & Métiers).
Remote policy: 1-2 days a week (with some flexibility). Possibility of working remotely 1-2 weeks once a year.

Your DNA

The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and leadership experience to help Nabla revolutionize healthcare with AI.

Requirements:

  • Deep expertise in machine learning: You have extensive experience in training and deploying neural networks for real-world use cases.

  • Strong leadership skills: Proven ability to lead ML projects, collaborate across teams, and mentor junior engineers.

  • Advanced Python coding skills: You write clean, production-ready code.

  • Vision for AI in healthcare: Passion for going beyond the status quo to redefine workflows and unlock better care for patients.

  • Fluent in English: You communicate clearly and effectively.

  • Broader software engineering experience (infrastructure, front-end, etc.) is a plus.

Your Team

You will join the Core team (Machine Learning specialists) and collaborate closely with Product Managers and other engineering teams.

The Engineering team currently comprises 20 people across three domains:

  • Apps: Responsible for our web application and Chrome extension.

  • Platform: Handles infrastructure, back-end, and our API solution.

  • Core: Focuses on Machine Learning innovation and delivery.

As a senior team member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our roadmap and mentoring teammates to achieve their best work.
