Principal Engineer - Verification Services, Design Enablement Gateway

Natcast (short for The National Center for the Advancement of Semiconductor Technology) is a new, purpose-built, non-profit entity created to operate the National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC) consortium, established by the CHIPS Act of the U.S. government.

In this role you will lead pre-silicon verification initiatives at Natcast, developing sophisticated verification solutions that enable breakthrough semiconductor design validation across multiple technology platforms. 

Every day you will drive advanced verification methodologies, working at the intersection of hardware and software while creating comprehensive validation frameworks that accelerate America's semiconductor development capabilities. 

To thrive in this role you must combine deep verification expertise with innovative problem-solving abilities, demonstrating both technical leadership and strategic thinking while advancing semiconductor verification capabilities. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Architect and implement comprehensive pre-silicon verification strategies supporting diverse design requirements across multiple technology nodes 

  • Develop and optimize RTL, hybrid, and pure virtual models enabling efficient design validation and performance analysis 

  • Create sophisticated HW/SW co-verification environments that ensure robust system-level validation 

  • Lead power and performance verification initiatives, including development of specialized test scenarios and analysis methodologies 

  • Design and implement advanced verification frameworks supporting both block-level and full-chip verification requirements 

  • Establish verification methodologies incorporating industry best practices for coverage, assertions, and formal verification 

  • Guide development of reusable verification components and infrastructure supporting multiple design projects 

  • Create and maintain verification environments supporting complex power management scenarios 

  • Implement comprehensive regression testing strategies ensuring thorough design validation 

  • Lead debug efforts for complex verification challenges across multiple design domains 

  • Develop and document best practices for verification methodology and implementation 

  • Mentor verification teams and provide technical leadership across multiple projects 

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 15+ years of hands-on verification experience 

  • Deep expertise in RTL design and verification methodologies 

  • Extensive experience with HW/SW co-verification techniques and tools 

  • Strong background in power and performance verification 

  • Demonstrated expertise with UVM and other advanced verification methodologies 

  • Experience with virtual platform development and validation 

  • Proven track record developing verification infrastructure and frameworks 

  • Strong scripting abilities (Python, Perl, Shell) for automation 

  • Expertise with industry-standard verification tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor) 

  • Excellence in debugging complex verification challenges 

  • Strong technical documentation capabilities 

  • Demonstrated team leadership and mentoring abilities
