The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Governance Process & Standards Specialist to join our team on a Full Time, Permanent basis!This role will support the Supplier Governance Process & Standards Manager in developing the supplier engagement and performance standard and associated processes of how National Grid becomes a ‘client of choice’ for our Suppliers.National Grid is leading the charge towards a Net Zero future in the UK and NE of USA. We recognize that decarbonizing our electric and gas systems will require resolving many questions and seeking new partnerships, technologies and transformative investments. Over the next 5 years, we will be investing over £60bn across our UK and US businesses – nearly double the investment over the past 5 years. This is an exciting time for our industry that is creating significant opportunities for National Grid; this is not just a moment in time; it's a game-changing era that will shape National Grid's success for decades to come.Given this backdrop, our supply chains are facing an unprecedented set of challenges and are at the forefront of our plans, placing National Grid Procurement at the centre of our Net Zero goals. Embracing new approaches and technologies, we are streamlining processes and making the day-to-day job simpler and more efficient.What You'll DoYou will directly contribute to National Grid’s supplier segmentation strategy, to develop, evolve and maintain the process and standards for strategic supplier engagement, vendor management and contract management.• Responsible for delivery and continuous evolution of rigorous supplier segmentation (e.g., based on spend, criticality), updating segmentation ensuring that our approach evolves as the supplier dynamics evolve.• Develop the standard and process for supplier engagement across all levels of National Grid’s supply chain, working with the Strategic Supplier Engagement (SSE), Supply Chain Risk and Performance, as well as Market Supplier Development leads.• Support the development of comprehensive supplier strategies for strategic suppliers building in perspectives from other teams (e.g., Sustainability, Supply Chain Risk) and aligning with business priorities.• Develop and continuously improve training of the defined supplier standards process and across the broader Procurement function.• Working with the procurement digital team, Identify, develop, and implement the appropriate technology to drive continuous improvement in this area.• Support the 'Voice of the Supplier' surveys, insight generation and use as the basis for appropriate action planning to continuously improve the perception of National Grid in the market with the goal of becoming a ‘Client of Choice’.• Support the development and maintenance of an effective supplier governance plan and reporting framework, ensuring appropriate controls and KPIs are applied to supplier performance, risks, costs and relationships by category team.Requirements• Exceptional stakeholder and supplier management skills with the ability to influence at all levels, within National Grid but also externally to Suppliers executive and senior leader levels.• Knowledge of commercial models and techniques necessary to achieve best in class supplier engagement to support the implementation of improvements across multiple suppliers.• Proven negotiation skills with a comprehensive knowledge of contract law and experience of managing procurement activities and delivering procurement value.• Ability to analyse KPIs and contract data, with strong attention to detail and capability to see, assess and support category teams in mitigating commercial risks and managing contract performance.• Good understanding of National Grid’s broader business objectives and the implications for category management in both regional and group businesses.• Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on incomplete information.Your RewardsRewarding work and a collaborative, team-oriented culture is just the beginning.
