About Neon

Neon is building the first two-sided commerce network for the games industry with the goal of accelerating the market's shift from a closed, platform-centric oligopoly to an open, developer-centric ecosystem. Our first product, Neon Direct, is an integrated e-commerce and global MoR platform designed to help devs monetize their games outside of app stores to save money and build direct relationships with players. Founded in April 2022, Neon is backed by Thrive, Ribbit, a16z, SciFi, Renegade, and Griffin Gaming Partners. Our team is split between SF and NYC, and comes from Affirm, Apple, Supercell, Nova Credit, Cash App, Etsy, Netflix and Blend.

About You

You are passionate about building in the early stages of a company and have a track record of scaling growth from the ground up. You have a strong perspective on what success looks like, but you’re also adaptable, adjusting your approach to fit the needs of the team. You excel at building trust and collaborating with cross-functional teams, partners, and customers. You’re hands-on, constantly refining your skills, and excited to build both a high-performing product and a culture of excellence. You strongly align with our team’s values and operating principles.

About the Role

This role is focused on generating demand, working closely with sales, product and customer success teams to identify effective marketing strategies and scale them rapidly. 

What You’ll Do in Your First 6-12 Months

  • Develop and scale Neon’s developer community, engaging with developers to create a loyal ecosystem of product advocates.

  • Execute a demand generation strategy to drive awareness and adoption of Neon Direct, optimizing for growth and efficiency.

  • Collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to refine messaging and positioning, ensuring our product resonates with our audience.

  • Design and implement a content marketing strategy across various channels, including social media and events, to maximize reach and engagement.

  • Manage Neon's website, ensuring it serves as an effective hub for developers, customers, and prospects, while optimizing for conversions.

  • Test and scale cost-efficient acquisition channels, with a focus on identifying and leveraging negative CAC opportunities that can grow sustainably.

  • Innovate around methods to drive virality, build a strong brand presence, and generate attention with minimal budget.

  • Organize and host in-person events to build deeper relationships within the developer community and create buzz around Neon’s products.

Requirements

  • Growth Marketing Expertise: Proven experience in growth marketing, particularly in the tech or gaming industry, with a focus on community building, demand generation, and product marketing.

  • Strong Messaging and Positioning Skills: Ability to create compelling narratives and position products effectively to resonate with our target audience.

  • Creative and Resourceful: Skilled at finding creative, scrappy solutions to drive customer acquisition and brand awareness with minimal resources.

  • Data-Driven Approach: Proficiency in using data to inform strategies, evaluate performance, and optimize growth campaigns.

  • Social Media Proficiency: Experience in managing and leveraging social content across multiple formats—short and long-form text, video, and audio—for maximum impact.

  • Event Planning Capabilities: Proven experience in organizing and executing events that build community and drive awareness.

  • Adaptability and Agility: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment and quickly iterate strategies as the market evolves.
