Product Designer (NerdWallet+)

NerdWallet+ is a membership program that pays users back for making smart financial decisions. Members gain access to exclusive features and have opportunities to earn rewards throughout the year. NerdWallet is looking for a Product Designer to join the NerdWallet+ team as we continue to build out our features and consumer experiences. In this role you will be responsible for design ideation and delivery for one of our NerdWallet+ development pods. This role will work closely with a variety of internal team members such as engineering, product management, quality assurance, and program management to evolve NerdWallet+.

You will report to a Director of Product Management.

• Move seamlessly between strategy and tactics to bring NerdWallet’s purpose to life. Navigate the natural tension between designing for revenue impact and designing for user needs
• Promote collaboration and communication with cross-functional colleagues to push boundaries, influence quarterly roadmaps, and have a strong impact on product design and quality
• Continually iterate on the team's processes — improving design quality, speed, and collaboration through efficiency and attention to craft so the team can work smarter, not harder 
• Experiment with and test ideas that are supportive of an evolving user base
• Elevate product design through a deep understanding of NerdWallet’s audience, and doing what’s right for them
• Be Nerdy! Empower people and change the way they think about their finances

You are:

• A strong design & systems thinker: You design with the big picture in mind, so your solutions can be re-utilized and expanded upon for additional use cases
• Comfortable working iteratively: You know how to scope design so your small, cross-functional team can deliver impact on schedule
• A motivated Product Designer: You understand the craft and are always working toward improving your interaction design and visual design skills
• An enthusiastic collaborator: you know how to build cross-disciplinary support in order to achieve exceptional experiences
• Data-driven: You leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and explain your decisions
• Perpetually curious: You’re passionate about new technologies, industry trends and relevant artifacts

Your experience:

We recognize not everyone will meet all of the criteria. If you meet most of the criteria below and you’re excited about the opportunity and willing to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

• 3+ years of professional experience in Product Design or a related field
• Previous experience contributing to design system component libraries and style guide documentation
• Experience designing across platforms (mobile web and native app)
• Ability to utilize research and data to drive design decisions 
• Comfortable using Figma (or similar design program) as a primary design and prototyping tool
