The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is a public benefit corporation and the nation’s largest municipal Housing Finance Agency. HDC seeks to increase the supply of multi-family housing, stimulate economic growth, and revitalize neighborhoods by financing the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low-, moderate-, and middle-income New Yorkers. Position Summary:
The mission of the Internal Audit Department (“IAD”) is to provide independent, objective assurance, and consulting services designed to add value and improve the Corporation’s operations. The IAD helps the Corporation accomplish its objectives by using a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. The purpose of the IAD is to determine whether the Corporation’s systems of internal control, risk management, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, are adequate and functioning in a manner to ensure:
- Risks are appropriately identified and managed.
- Employees’ actions comply with policies, standards, procedures, applicable laws, and regulations.
- Resources are acquired economically, used efficiently, and are adequately protected.
- Quality and continuous improvement are fostered in the Corporation’s control processes.
The Internal Audit Intern will report to the Deputy Director-Internal Audit and will learn, experience, and assist in a variety of hands-on internal audit processes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop internal audit skills by assisting the Internal Audit team with internal audit projects
- Assist in the planning, fieldwork, reporting/wrap-up, and execution of all types of internal audit activities
- Gain exposure to coordinating with auditees and senior leaders
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, etc.)
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
