Director, Project Sourcing

What we’re looking for: 

Nexamp is growing its Supply Chain team and seeking to hire a Director, Project Sourcing. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project sourcing function, leading a team of professionals to ensure that each project receives the appropriate equipment on time and within budget. This role involves strategic planning, process improvement, and close collaboration with various departments to align sourcing activities with project requirements and company objectives. 

You will be hybrid out of Boston or Chicago. You will report to the VP, Supply Chain.

 What you’ll do:  

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Sourcing Managers and Sourcing Specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and delivering measurable results.  
  • Developing the team into a core competency and significant value add in the project value chain. 

Strategic Planning: 

  • Collaborate with other functions within Nexamp to forecast equipment needs and manage equipment demand accordingly.
  • Work with the Category Management team to influence the category's long-term strategies.
  • Influence and approve project budget estimates before project investment approval.   
  • Develop, drive, and manage Nexamp’s domestic equipment and safe harbor strategies.  

Deliver the right equipment on-time and under-budget: 

  • Manages the team to ensure teams’ main objectives are met and exceeded. 
  • Meet and exceed the stakeholders' expectations (Deployment, engineering, etc.) through strong relationships and a collaborative approach.  

 Process Improvement: 

  • Identify opportunities to enhance sourcing processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Streamline the sourcing activity as a part of the overall project deployment process.  

Vendor Management: 

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate agreements and work collaboratively with our supplier’s base to find win-win solutions.  

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of sourcing and procurement experience delivering projects on time and within budget. 
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in vendor management. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • ERP knowledge and experience e.g. NetSuite, Salesforce, SAP, Oracle,.
  • Continuous improvement, Six Sigma concepts & methodologies, and work experience as a leader with excellent negotiation skills are preferred. 
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.   
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality. 
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions. 
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions. 
  • Previous experience engaging and inspiring teams to excel while focusing on the growth and well-being of team members.
