The NAU system title for the position isBusiness Analyst, Intermediate or Business Analyst,Senior.• Financial Business Analyst, Intermediate or Financial BusinessAnalyst, Senior are hybrid positions which allows the incumbents tocomplete their work at both an NAU site, campus, or facility and ata non-centralized site with or without accommodation.• These positions are performed primarily at a desk with extendedperiods of sitting.Job DescriptionThe Financial Business Analyst, Intermediate or the FinancialBusiness Analyst, Senior is members of the Comptroller's OfficeBusiness Intelligence and Analysis (BIA) team. The FinancialBusiness Analyst, Intermediate develops and maintains anunderstanding of the BIA team, Comptroller's Office, and UniversityFinance and Business Services (UFBS) divisional needs and theiralignment with university strategic goals and objectives. TheFinancial Business Analyst, Senior develops and maintains anadvanced understanding of the BIA team, Comptroller'sOffice, and University Finance and Business Services (UFBS)divisional needs and their alignment with university strategicgoals and objectives. Provides timely process and technologysupport to users of PeopleSoft Financials and other systems used bythe Comptroller's Office and other supported units. Collaborateswith subject matter experts across the division to determine thevalue and viability of proposed business needs, goals, andobjectives. Elicits business needs from subject matter experts anddivisional leadership, translates needs into functionalrequirements, and documents requirements in specifications,business process flows and analysis tools. Evaluates current andproposed future divisional business processes and data to improvebusiness processes and systems within the finance department.Collaborates with business partners and stakeholders to identifygoals, best practices, and other methods for gathering andanalyzing processes, business applications, and data. Leads basicfinancial projects and contributes to aspects of complex financialprojects.Financial Business Analyst,IntermediateProvide System and Process Support - 50%• Provides end user support to diagnose and resolve issues inPeopleSoft Financials, ServiceNow, and other systems and processesused by the Comptroller's Office, and other supported units.• Investigates system/process issues and proposes potentialsolutions.• Identifies risk factors associated with departmental systemsand recommends and processes mitigation strategies to ensuresecurity and continuity of operations.Business Analysis, Functional Design, and Project Delivery -30%• Develops and maintains an understanding of BIA team,Comptroller's Office, and University Finance and Business Services(UFBS) divisional initiatives, policies, business processes, andsystems (including PeopleSoft Financials, ServiceNow, OnBase, andothers).• Participates in moderate complexity financial projects, servingas a contributing project team member using intermediate analyticalknowledge and problem-solving abilities to provide input andanalysis on key project decisions.• Manages and/or provides primary business/process analysis onbasic and intermediate financial projects that impact one businessunit or department.• Elicits requirements on prioritized, financial projects underthe direction of supervisor.• Designs and executes basic test plans using use cases to assessimpact of business process changes on financial and other systemsused by the Comptroller's Office and other supported units.Automation and Efficiency Identification and Analysis - 15%• Identifies and recommends solutions for streamlining andimproving the operations of the Comptroller's Office and othersupported units.• Gathers, cleans, and analyzes data to help supportrecommendations for change.• Identifies opportunities to improve daily work outcomes,processes, and operations and builds cases for change.• Understands and applies appropriate data handling practiceswith university data.Other - 5%• Other duties as assigned.Financial Business Analyst, SeniorBusiness Analysis, Functional Design, and Project Delivery -35%• Develops and maintains an advanced understanding of BIA team,Comptroller's Office , and University Finance and Business Services(UFBS) divisional initiatives, policies, business processes, andsystems (including PeopleSoft Financials, ServiceNow, OnBase, andothers).• Collaborates with BIA team and departmental leadership, processowners, and decision-makers to provide input and recommendations onthe value and viability of proposed initiatives.• Participates in complex financial projects, serving as acontributing project team member using advanced analyticalknowledge and problem-solving abilities to provide input andanalysis on key project decisions and performing assigned advancedtasks.• Acts as a Project Manager to lead financial projects, includingmoderately and highly complex projects that may be cross-divisionaland cross-system; providing key analysis, performing advancedtasks, and recommending key project decisions.• Works on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a highlevel of quality and timeliness.• Works with a project team of functional and technical staff togather information from a variety of sources to create projectvision, business cases, work plans, vendor requested documents, andbusiness design specifications.• Elicits requirements on prioritized, financial projects.• Designs and executes test plans using use basic and complexcases to assess impact of business process changes on financial andother systems used by the Comptroller's Office, and other supportedunits.Provide System and Process Support - 35%• Independently provides end user support to diagnose and resolveall types of issues in PeopleSoft Financials, ServiceNow, and othersystems and processes used by the Comptroller's Office, and othersupported units.• Anticipates and investigates system/process issues and proposespotential solutions.• Identifies risk factors associated with departmental systemsand recommends and processes mitigation strategies to ensuresecurity and continuity of operations.Automation and Efficiency Identification and Analysis - 25%• Identifies and recommends solutions for streamlining andimproving the operations of the Comptroller's Office and othersupported units.• Collaborates with finance professionals, business analysts, andstakeholders to develop and utilize metrics and KPIs to measurebusiness process efficiencies and effectiveness.• Gathers, cleans, and analyzes data from a variety of sources tohelp support recommendations for change.• Leverages a data-driven approach to independently createspecifications for new financial business process designs andsolutions for presentation to department leadership.• Collaborates with project team to ensure that automation andreporting projects are deployed appropriately.• Uses broad knowledge of department and processes to activelyidentify opportunities to improve daily work outcomes, processes,and operations and independently builds cases for change.• Understands and applies appropriate data handling practiceswith university data.Other -
