Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman seeks an in-house lawyer in the Space Sector to act as a Corporate Counsel for the Tactical Space Systems Division, headquartered in Sterling, Virginia, near the Dulles airport.Responsibilities for this Division and campus include counseling on matters associated with the pursuit, capture, and execution of U.S. Government and commercial contracts and associated operations, as well as coordinating with various legal specialists inside the company to support litigation and internal investigations, intellectual property, export, employment, and other matters impacting the business.Succeeding in this position requires superb problem-solving skills, sound judgement and discretion, the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with executive leadership, lead teams, ownership of issues and results, and the highest standards of integrity and ethics.The position is not remote/telecommuting, and requires full time, in-office leadership to be effective.Basic Qualifications• Juris Doctor degree• Ability to become a member of the Virginia Bar or licensed Virginia corporate counsel• Ability to obtain and hold at least an U.S. DoD security clearance• 10+ years of government contracts experience at a law firm, U.S. Government agencies and/or in-house legal departments.• Strong academic credentials.Preferred Qualifications• Experience with contracting and subcontracting in support of U.S. Government programs and/or with complex commercial transactions• Expertise with FAR, DFARS, and other federal agencies rules and practices.• Ability to analyze legal concepts and communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, from executive leadership to first-line supervisors, customer representatives and outside counsel.• Ability to lead and/or contribute to a collaborative team environment, and encourage inclusion, innovation, and solutions to complex problems.• Strong business acumen.• Proven success leading teams and driving for results in a large matrixed organization.• An active U.S. DoD security clearance at the Secret level or higher is preferred.Salary Range: $221,600 - $318,600The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
