The UX Designer will become a part of Northrop Grumman's User Experience organization and will be responsibility for interaction design activities and deliverables including task flows, wireframes, prototypes, pattern libraries, design documentation, storyboards, and scenarios for projects. This position requires someone who can understand customer behavior and why users do what they do in our system. As the UX Designer you will be working with a UX Strategist to develop and execute an implementation plan and will be responsible for gathering and evaluating user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and engineers. Illustrating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps. Using human centered design processes to communicate solutions, usually in the form of models, wireframes, documentation, or prototypes across platforms.

Translate high-level objectives and design principles into polished visual design.
• Define the conceptual strategy, task flows, wireframes, prototypes, pattern libraries, design documentation, storyboards, and scenarios for projects.
• Design user experiences that are intuitive and elegant and in-line with current design trends and concepts, delivering wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
• Be an advocate for interaction design best practices with a focus on consistency and usability.
• Clear understanding of accessibility (contrast, font size, color, touch, and more) to achieve AA levels.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
• Make data-informed product design decisions and ideations to create the best user experience
• Create project timelines and prioritize current projects
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• BS/BA in related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years with a Master's degree (in lieu of education, 4 years of additional exempt related experience)
• Demonstrated ability in designing graphic user interfaces elements and UI mockups/prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end UX/UI lifecycle, design principles and process
• Experience in interaction design utilizing Axure RP Pro
• Must be organized and able to manage multiple competing priorities
• Experience working with desktop, mobile web and native apps
Preferred Qualifications:
• BS/BA or Master's degree in Arts/Design, Information Communication Technology, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field
• Excellent eye and visual taste, including a passion for simplicity and a clean, crisp aesthetic
• Experience with large-scale projects
• Knowledge and understanding of human-centered thinking/design
• Experience using methodologies such as Agile, Lean UX, and Lean Startup.
• Experience using web analytics data to inform design decisions.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to present projects and status reports to senior management.
• Current with the latest UX and UI trends, techniques, and technologies
• Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Have experience in agile methodologies
• Excellent verbal and visual communicator that is flexible and patient
Salary Range: $92,000 - $138,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
