Role overview:
As part of the Data Science team within the broader Data department, this position reports to the Manager of Data Science, working on initiatives in support of Product, Marketing, Operations, and other departments as directed. This role presents the opportunity to have a broad impact on the organization as we turn raw data into rich information that can effectively inform decision-making efforts throughout the company.
This is a hybrid role, requiring two or more days onsite at Nursa headquarters in Murray, UT depending upon need.
Responsibilities:
Use predictive models, inferential statistics, A/B testing, data mining, and other techniques on initiatives including: marketing campaigns, product development, growth operations strategy, and pricing of services
Be a cross-functional operator, using data science methods to shape company understanding of the users on both sides of a two-sided marketplace, and drive improvements to marketing and product to enhance user experience and retention
Collaborate with other Data team members to expertly communicate to the broader organization knowledge gained through research and analysis
Multiply the value of data through the effective use of visualizations
Balance the need to deliver timely value with an exacting attention to detail
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or equivalent
Two years’ experience in industry as a Data Scientist in a similar role OR PhD in Economics, Organizational Psychology, Sociology or equivalent
Solid command of probability (distributions, LLN, CLT, etc.), statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and common classification and regression modeling techniques
ability to accurately query databases using SQL selects and joins to retrieve data for Input into models and analyses
Some experience developing cloud data infrastructure (databases, tables, pipelines, cloud functions, API gateways) to deploy, serve, and support data science models
Experience with git for version control, CI/CD, and other software development best practices
Complete facility with RStudio and RMarkdown notebooks for communication with Stakeholders and integration with existing Data Science knowledge base
Skills in writing production-grade Python code using OOP best practices
