For over 20 years, Celent has helped senior executives make confident decisions around their technology strategies to execute at scale. We offer objective advice and clarity, backed by a database of thousands of solutions and award-winning global best practice use cases. With real-life domain expertise, Celent also guides clients through the maze of emerging tech in the pursuit of value.

Our clients are a mix of the world's top financial institutions, technology solutions providers, consulting firms, and private equity firms spread over 30 countries.

THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a thoughtful and ambitious individual to join the fast-growing Risk team as a Senior Analyst. The team develops the research agenda, publishes reports and thought leadership, and provides advice to business and technology executives at banks, insurers and wealth management firms, as well as the technology companies that operate in the risk space.

You will be a key contributor to driving growth of the Risk practice and will have the opportunity to bring your creative ideas and build a reputation as an expert in the Risk Management space. The role entails developing, writing and delivering research, client advisory and consulting services, as well as actively promoting the Celent brand as well as your own.

Research: Conduct leading-edge research and publish insightful content focused on technology trends in risk management and implications for financial institutions. This includes:

  • Identifying and monitoring key market trends and analyzing market structure
  • Understanding how emerging technologies deliver strategic advantage
  • Profiling established technology and Regtech solutions
  • Analyzing and defining best practices in how FIs deploy risk technologies
  • Developing a point of view on how risk technologies will evolve

You will build this knowledge by conducting primary and secondary research, including market interviews, surveys, and briefings.

Client Advisory and Consulting Services: Work directly with our clients to address specific strategic issues where technology has a significant impact. This includes regular discussions and interactions with Celent research clients, as well as short, high-impact strategy consulting engagements, such as technology strategy workshops, solution due diligence, market entry/expansion strategy, or bespoke primary research.

Personal and Celent Brand Promotion: Develop a high personal profile and strengthen the company brand in your domain of expertise. This includes publishing research reports, preparing and delivering engaging thought leadership presentations, such as client webinars and public speaking at conferences and industry events.

Your Attributes and Experience:

We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for understanding the business value of risk management technology across financial services. In addition, we seek a person with a keen interest in how the segment and technology-led innovations will evolve over the next few years and beyond while maintaining a grounded and pragmatic perspective on what’s possible.

The candidate should enjoy research, both desk research and interview-based research, and writing. The person should be comfortable with and capable of building trusted relationships with clients who are often senior executives.

We anticipate that candidates with experience in strategy, consulting, IT architecture, and/or project/product management, especially digital transformation, will excel in this role.

Knowledge and Expertise:

  • A working knowledge of Risk Management and the role technology plays in shaping it, especially:
    • How technologies such as AI, Cloud or low/ no code development help deliver digital transformation
    • Technology environments within Financial Services firms, including how FIs manage data.
    • A keen interest in understanding emerging technologies and Regtech innovations.
  • Familiarity with the offerings, market, client base and organization of a bank, insurer or wealth management firm
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral, including ability to structure content and deliver clear messages in different formats (e.g., Word-based report vs PowerPoint presentation vs video, etc.)
  • Intellectual curiosity and the drive to learn about and master new areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative approach to working in a global, culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently.

Academic background:

  • Excellent academic credentials from a top university.

Professional experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a management consulting firm, or research & advisory firm in a strategy, research, or consulting role.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a top financial institution with some responsibility for offering strategy, technology strategy or product management.

Location:

  • New York or Boston

What you can expect from Celent:

  • An intellectually stimulating working environment with opportunities to shape and lead the research agenda in your respective coverage area.
  • Competitive compensation, including base salary, performance-based annual bonus, and an excellent benefits package.
  • Nimbleness of a small entrepreneurial firm, while being part of a bigger Oliver Wyman and Marsh McLennan family, with opportunities for personal development and growth.
  • Flexible location (see above).

Our Values and Culture:

We’re serious about making Celent and Oliver Wyman a rewarding, enjoyable, and balanced place to work.
