About the Role
As a Network Engineer at OpenAI you will play a pivotal role in shaping the way that we scale and grow our network footprint globally. You will be responsible for design, configuration, deployment and monitoring of our networks globally to ensure that they are scalable, secure and meet the demands of our rapid growth.
This role involves working cross functionally with build out, workplace, IT and Corporate security teams.
In this role, you will:
Design, deploy and troubleshoot networks globally.
Drive new network standards and initiatives to scale with our rapid growth.
Define and manage monitoring systems and proactive alerting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build office networks from scratch, scaling from small serviced offices to large campus designs.
Work closely with the support and escalations team to resolve user network requests efficiently and effectively.
Procure and implement new WAN connections for our offices
Utilize configuration as code methodologies (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) to automate and manage configuration of network infrastructure.
Participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely support and troubleshooting for critical network issues.
You may be a fit for this role if you:
Have an interest in expanding beyond networks into other areas of IT Infrastructure.
Have experience with Cisco and Cisco Meraki network technologies.
Have experience with Infrastructure/Config as code using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Chef and Puppet
Have experience with Monitoring and Alerting tools like SNMP, Syslog, Grafana, Elasticsearch.
Have experience defining authentication policies using a NAC solution e.g Cisco ISE, FreeRADIUS etc.
Have worked with an IPAM system like NetBox, Infoblox etc.
Have strong automation skills.
Have wireless troubleshooting experience using tools like Ekahau Site Survey and interpreting site survey results.
This is a hybrid role and will require 3 days a week in our San Francisco office.
