About the Team
OpenAI's Applied AI org is the product development arm of the company, bringing the power of advanced AI models to the world via APIs and user-interfaces (ChatGPT, DALL-E). The Product Ops team is responsible for streamlining and automating org operations and information channels (across Applied and with adjacent functions) to set strong foundations for collaboration at scale, and providing operational expertise and leverage for product teams bringing solutions to market.
About the Role
This Product Operations Manager role is for a senior IC. Our ideal candidate has deep experience in Product Operations at one or more scaling tech companies, working very closely with Product/Engineering and XFN partners, on both central systems (e.g. launch calendar / launch readiness) and bringing specific products to market by running betas and launch activities.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.
In this role, you will:
Establish and lead ongoing programs and systems that provide leverage for all of Applied and sub-groups of Applied (examples: Feedback loop programs to synthesize the top needs of customers from a range of input channels, running ongoing execution sync meetings).
Partner with product leaders to manage org cadence programs like planning, goal setting, and mid-cycle check in processes.
Program manage key betas, launches, launch events, and other strategic cross-functional initiatives
Assist in building a brand new Product Operations function at OpenAI (help set strategy, culture, internal storytelling, etc)
You might thrive in this role if you:
Can build systems/tools (via code / no-code / AI) to facilitate internal processes with a great user experience for those who need to use them.
Are fantastic at building cross-functional relationships and having empathy for the many roles involved in bringing products to market and supporting them.
Are able to move fast to get initial versions of solutions up, and then iterate them to improve the experience and scalability.
Are a great communicator across written, presentation, and visual forms. You are highly influential with people who don’t report to you.
Are engaged and curious about the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
You know how to find the line between chaos and bureaucracy when setting up a process.
Can build a fun, inclusive, driven team culture
