Supply Chain Operations

OpenStore is reimagining the future of e-commerce. Leveraging technology and our expertise in operating the most Shopify stores in the world, we acquire stores and offer managed services to Shopify entrepreneurs. In doing so, we’ve provided millions of dollars to entrepreneurs all over the country, helping them turn their stores into passive income and freeing up their time to start something new.

In the near future, we’re bringing spontaneous discovery to online shopping through a consumer marketplace. Our company was started in 2021 by top investor and operator, Keith Rabois, and is backed with $150M+ from investors such as Atomic, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures and Lux Capital.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

OpenStore currently manages a diverse portfolio of nearly 50 brands across various sectors, and as we continue to acquire more brands, the transportation and logistics challenges grow in complexity. We are seeking a self-starter who has a bias for action and urgency to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness in this dynamic environment.

This role is crucial in reducing and mitigating costs for OpenStore, overseeing both imports along with inbound and outbound parcel freight. Your responsibilities will include optimizing the transportation of goods, ensuring cost-efficient and timely deliveries for internal and external customers. This role involves close collaboration with the Procurement team and is within the Supply Chain organization, reporting directly to the Fulfillment Lead.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage the movement of OpenStore freight across all channels.

  • Optimize the transport of goods and work cross-functionally to ensure cost efficient and on-time deliveries to both internal and external customers.

  • Negotiate freight contracts and rates with carriers, suppliers and providers.

  • Provide in-transit reporting, analyze freight costs and identify areas of savings.

  • Set up new partnerships, hold carriers and transportation providers accountable to performance.

  • Coordinate movement of inventory between suppliers, vendors, and third party partners in a cost-managed manner.

  • Provide regular updates on transportation costs as it relates to cost of goods sold to the leadership team.

  • Deep dive on invoices to ensure accuracy and identify cost saving opportunities

  • Work independently as well as on a small team to make significant impacts to OpenStore’s bottom line.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You are strategic. You’re focused on where you’re going and build the strategies and plans to achieve the goal. You’re not afraid to admit something didn’t work and have backup plans brewing for your next test.

  • You communicate and collaborate effectively. You know how to deliver the right message to the relevant audience at the appropriate level of detail. You co-create solutions that are better than the sum of individuals’ ideas. You embrace intellectual friction as a feature of improvement, not a relationship bug.

  • You can work through ambiguity. Your experience will enable you to focus on the elements that matter most and drive clear insights that inform the team’s priorities.

  • You take ownership.  You are comfortable driving projects end-to-end that execute and eliminate blockers, helping you and the company move fast with confidence. You know when to raise your hand and ask for help.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • 5+ YOE in Supply Chain with a focus on Transportation & Fulfillment.

  • Experience with contract negotiations across multiple carriers and channels

  • Order entry and management, familiarity with platforms such as Shopify, Flexport, Anvyl and ClickUp

  • Knowledge and experience working in fulfillment and warehousing

  • Experience working with many customer bases including direct-to-customer, internal customers and third parties.

  • Preferred experience with ocean contracts, spot markets, freight forwarding, parcel contract negotiation, freight and ship auditing, invoice audits, returns management and optimization.
