Join us as an Operations Specialist:
Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting recent college graduates who are looking for an entry level position in financial services. In this role you will gain exposure to financial processes and network with professionals to kick start your career.
The Ops Specialist is responsible for supporting I&WM, performing moderately complex Middle Office specialized operational activities which includes securities and cash processing, ensuring transaction flow between I&WM and the custodian. Such activities include Trade Support, Corporate Actions, Account Set Up and Maintenance, Portfolio Accounting, SMF, Billing, Cash Management. Work with the business line to resolve inquiries and provide client service support.
1. Transaction Processing
  • Process security and cash transactions to accounting and other processing systems
  • Verify information related to client requests and inquiries (including account openings/closing, funds transfers, corporate actions, etc.) and instructions received
  • Manage daily volume
  • Resolve break items
2. Client Service
  • Address client inquiries and process client requests timely
  • Resolve problems related to a client account or maintenance (i.e., changes to client accounts, forwarding changes, etc.)
  • Escalate client issues/problems to management if not resolved timely
3. Process / Productivity Improvement
  • Gain efficiencies to improve individual productivity
  • Gain an understanding of the big picture – how specific function impacts the firm
  • Contribute to Division or Firm process improvement activities
  • Assist team members with day-to-day activities when needed / providing backup
  • Communicate professionally and constructively to effectively resolve issues to minimize risk and exposure.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • BS / BA degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1 to 2 years of industry experience
  • Demonstrated PC skills
  • Ability to identify, escalate and resolve problems / issues
  • Ability to communicate professionally through effective verbal and written skills
  • Demonstrates efficient time management skills
  • Demonstrates organizational skills and an attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Proactive self-starter who is goal oriented
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Bids 2000, UAF and AddVantage accounting system a plus

BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000 which is specific to New York, NY and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
